If you decide to go with melee for your main or only damage type inCore Keeper, you’ve got quite a few options. There are several types of swords you’re able to craft, some axes, daggers, and even spears and clubs if you want something a bit different, but one sword stands above all others: the Rune Song.

This legendary sword was created by those from the ancient civilization that used to inhabit The Core, but time has caused its destruction and the pieces of it have been scattered. If you want to wield this weapon in your battles, you’ll need to search far and wide.

What Is The Rune Song?

Rune Song isone of several Legendary-tier tools and weapons, and it’s a sword that sports not onlyhigh damageand good abilities, but aunique skill called Trailing Melody.

Trailing Melodycreates a damage trail in the direction of the cursor that reaches up to six tilesdepending on how long it’s charged and can hit enemies through walls.

Like other Legendary weaponssuch as the Phantom Spark, the Rune Song has amore complicated crafting processthan normal weapons, as itrequires a special recipe, andthree unique crafting componentsfound via exploration alongside some common materials. In total, it hassix components:

For thethree unique materials, you’ll need to locate them inspecific scenes or bosses. The Iron Bars are obtained bysmelting Iron Ore in a Furnace, and Iron Ore can bemined in the Forgotten Ruinsif you have a tool with at least aMining Power of 85for breaking theStone Blocks they’re found in.

Ancient Gemstones are alsoeasy to find, as they are apossible drop from every breakableandevery type of Chest​​​​​​in the game, regardless of the scene they’re found in, can befound as an ore, and someenemies can drop themas well, likemost Cavelings.

How To Get The Rune Parchment

The Rune Parchment is one ofseveral special recipes, and it can bepurchased from the Cloak Merchantfor 2,000 Ancient Coins, but onlyafter you’ve activated The Coreandremoved the Great Wallblocking the three mid-game biomes.

Activating the Core is done by defeating the first three major bosses –Glurch,Ghorm, andMalugaz– thenbringing their key items to The Core and putting them into their respective statues, then speaking to The Core afterward.

If youdon’t have the Ancient Coinsfor it, you canfarm and sell excess armorto the Cloaked Merchant or Bearded Merchant, or alongsidedig up and sell extra Valuablesfrom anycross-shaped spotsin the groundwith a Shovel.

How To Get The Broken Handle

Of thethree unique crafting materialsused to make the Rune Song, theBroken Handle is the easiest and earliest oneyou can get.

They have achance to drop from Large Ancient Breakablesin theForgotten Ruins, especially if youhave the Chambers generationtype on and there’smore room for themto spawn, andthe Hive Motheralso has achance to drop one each time you killher.

TheBroken Handle also doubles as a melee weapon, and if you find one early while exploring the Forgotten Ruins, it makes for a decent upgradeuntil you can get an Iron Sword.

The Broken Handle also has achance of droppingfromAzeos The Sky Titanafter killing them. There’s also a chance tofind them in Locked Scarlet Chests, and at a lower rate inregular and Ancient Chestsfound incertain scenes in Azeos' Wilderness, such as the Large Maze, Caveling Farmhouse, or Abandoned Camp.

How To Get The Clear Gemstone

The Clear Gemstone is thethird unique materialneeded to make the Rune Song, and it canonly be found in the Medium Maze scene. It can spawn in both theForbidden Ruins and Azeos' Wilderness, with oneguaranteed to spawn, but amaximum of three in the worldis possible.

This scene is made up of a medium-sizedmaze made of indestructible Obsidian Blocksand contains ahandful of Stone Dart Traps, single tiles of water you’ll need blocks or bridges for and acenter room with a regular Chest.

No enemies spawn inside the Medium Maze, butnearby enemies can and will navigate the maze to reach you if they aren’t killed before you go in, and can sneak up on you while you’re at the chest.

When youget to the centerroom, you’ll find theClear Gemstone inside the chest, and it’s alsoguaranteed to have ten Ancient Gemstones, 20 Ancient Coins, ten Iron Bars,five Gold Bars, an Ocarina, and aRecall Idol.

How To Get The Chipped Blade

The Chipped Blade is themost difficultof the three unique materials to find, as it isexclusively found in the Chipped Blade Templescene.

This scene canonly spawn in Azeos' Wilderness, and they can bedifficult to finddue to their smaller size and themassive size of Azeos' Wilderness​​​​​, which also includes the Shimmering Frontier sub-biome.

Up tothree can spawn per world, and you’reguaranteed to have at least onesomewhere, but you’llneed a Glow Tulipto open the doors, so you’llwant to have one with youwhen you go searching.

Theeasiest way to find themis tolocate the WaypointnearIvy the Poisonous MassorAzeos the Sky Titan, and then start branching out from each side of said, using either ahigh-mining damage Pickaxe or Sledgehammer, such as one made fromOctarine Bars.

You can thenmap out the biome boundariesto get a range, and thengo back and forth through the regionuntil you find a Chipped Blade Temple. If you go far enough but don’t find one, you can then justuse a Recall Idol to teleport back to The Core, then back to theWaypoint in Azeos' Wilderness, and go in adifferent direction.

If you don’t have a Glow Tulip on hand or forgot to bring one before leaving your base, you canoccasionally find them growing in Azeos' Wilderness.

When you find the Chipped Blade Temple,hold a Glow Tulip near the doorfor a few seconds tomake the locked door open. Inside, you’llfind two pedestals: one has aGold Crystal Necklace, and theother has a Chipped Bladeon it.

How To Craft Rune Song

When you have all six components, put themin your inventoryand make sure theRune Parchment is in your hotbar.

All you need to do isuse it like you would a consumable itemto bring up aprogress bar, and when it’s finished, you’llreceive the Rune Song.
