WhileTails Of Iron 2: Whiskers Of Winteris primarily focused onengaging powerful monsters in head-on combat,there are a few moments in the game where you can help your subjects with some simple tasks – like finding a lost fishing rod. While it may seem inconsequential compared to eliminating the Darkwing threats, every side quest is worth your time.
Helping Ernest, the Heron, to find his missing fishing rod is necessary to complete 100 percent of the quests in Tails Of Iron 2: Whiskers Of Winter. It’s unclear at first, but each of the side quests you encounter has a necessary piece of alarger puzzle given to you by Merlin, the Druid.Luckily, finding the fishing rod for Ernest is simple, if you know where to look.
How To Start Heron By The Lake
Head toThe Golden Forestand search for theHeron by the bridge near Nestminsterto begin this quest.
Follow the Heron left toward theMoonlight Pondwhere it will explain that it’s missing its trusty fishing rod and cannot go on without it.
You’ll need to search for the rod and return it to the Heron to earn its thanks and a valuable reward.
Where To Find The Heron’s Fishing Rod
To locate the rod,head to the well at the Bug Farmon the right side of the map.
From here, jump into the well and descend to the southernmost section of the map byfollowing the ladders downward.
Once at the bottom of the ladders, crawl through a small crevice to the right and continue pressing onward until you come acrossthree blinking machines.
Ignore the machines and head through the hatch on the right sideof the room where you’ll find a couple ofmolesdipping the rod in honey –they’ll ask you to bring them a jar of honey.
Return tothe surface and enterThe Bug Farm,where you’ll find theHoneyfor saleat the merchant inside;buy it for three gold coins.
If you’ve already unlocked the Slither Scale Pit fast travel, you may use it to make traveling back and forth much faster.
With the Honeyin your possession, descend to the bunker below andtrade it with the moles for the Heron’s Rodalong with the following items:
Return to theAbandoned Ranger Campfast travel point and head to the Moonlight Pond totalk to the Heron,who will be overjoyed to have his rod back.
What Rewards Do You Get From Heron By The Lake?
Ernest will begin fishing andgive you ten gold coinsfor your efforts.
Leave the area then return,where you’ll find Ernest taking a break from fishing, and you can nowbuy two items from him:
