Custom Contraptions are some of the best Exhibits you can have inTwo Point Museum, if you don’t mind the occasional fire risk. Unlike most of the other things you can build in the Workshop, though, they require more than just cash and time to construct.
While the game is very forthcoming in telling you what materials you need for each project, you might find yourself needing a bit more guidance when it comes to actually finding them. Never fear, though, because we’ve got the locations of all five resources and the best ways to get them right here.

How To Get Mulch
Unlike the mineral resources deep below Bungle Burrows,Mulchhas to be produced inside the museum. You can do this bydragging any Botany Exhibit into a Mulch-O-Matic. Of course, that means you’ll need tobuild a Mulch-O-Matic first.
The Mulch-O-Matic costs75 Metal and 100 Whirlicogs to build, plus $7500. See below for information on getting those materials.
Mulching a Botany Exhibitdestroys it permanently, so it’s always best to uselower-quality samplesinstead of Epic and Pristine specimens when you’re able to. When in doubt, send a Botany Expert with Survival Skillsto the Allotment Labs with a First Aid Kit. It’s a quick Expedition, and it’s guaranteed to yield a Sickly Pear that you can Mulch right away when it arrives.
How To Get Materials From Bungle Burrows
All the other materials in the game are found inspecific locations in Bungle Burrows. These Expeditions require Janitors, and get more dangerous the rarer the resource you’re going for. If you haven’t unlocked the location you need, check out our guide on Points Of Interestto find the correct requirements.
Metals - Oreful Quarry
Oreful Quarry providesMetals, usually around 175 but sometimes more if you’re lucky, each time you visit. It requires a single Janitor for the Expedition team.
If the Janitor isRank 5 or more, they can avoid the potential Rockslide Injury Event; otherwise, have them bring aFirst Aid Kitto return home unscathed.
If you don’t need the First Aid Kit,bring an XP-dition Journal insteadto boost your Janitor’s experience gain from the trip!
Whirlicogs - Surplus Supplies
A trip to Surplus Supplies, right next to Oreful Quarry, typically yieldsabout 100 Whirlicogs. You needtwo Janitors for this Expedition instead of just one, and the cost is also doubled at $3000 instead of $1500.
Again, you’ll probably want aFirst Aid Kitto avoid injuries from Rockslides. If your team’s combined Rank is less than five, there’s also a chance ofslightly delaying the Expeditiondue to a Broken Drill Event. At most, though, that’s only a twelve-day trip in total, so the crew will be back with your Whirlicogs before you know it.
Crystal Moss - Crystal Caves
The Crystal Caves are in thebottom-right corner of Bungle Burrows, and they’re much more dangerous than either Oreful Quarry or Surplus Supplies. You’ll typically get aboutfive Crystalsfrom a single journey here.
The hazards and crew requirements areidentical to those of Surplus Supplies, with one very important exception; if your combined team Rank isless than ten, the Cave Collapse Event has a chance of triggering, causing one of your Janitors to be permanently lost.
Whatever you do,don’t send an expedition whose combined Rank is exactly eight or nine. This will prevent all the other events but sill leave Cave Collapse available, making it the only Event that can possibly trigger! The same goes for the First Aid Kit; going with fewer Ranks and forgoing the First Aid Kit gives you a chance that a character will be injured, rather than killed.
Golden Truffle - Golden Mine
The Golden Mine is in thedeepest part of Bungle Burrows, and you’ll have to pass through the Counter Intelligence Labs and the Charge Labs in order to reach it. Once you’re there, send your best Janitors; you’re unlikely to come back with more than one or two Golden Truffles per trip.
Luckily, there are no deadly events in the Golden Mines. Bring a First Aid Kit, and you’ll be safe from theChemical Combustion hazard. If your combined team Rank is eight or higher, though, yourJanitors will get an XP bonus. If they have a total rank of ten or higher, negating the Chemical Combustion without the First Aid Kit, bring the XP-dition Journal along for even more experience!
