Designing your character is always one of the more amusing parts of sandbox games likeAloft, but here, not only is your clothing customizable, but you can even improve the quality of your outfit to allow your character access to perks like additional tools or faster sprinting.

Once you’ve made some fabrics on a Loom and taken them to a Sewing Table, you’ll be able to make even more outfits for your character. New clothes in hand, head over to the Dye Maker and use the flowers you’ve been collecting to make custom colors for all your brand new clothes.

How To Change Your Clothes

Craft New Outfits With A Sewing Machine

Like plenty of the things you’ll collect and create as you continue toplay through Aloft, you’ll find thatyou need a few different tables and machinesbefore you can begin making new clothes. To find these recipes, you’ll need tocontinue to explorethe sky to find knowledge stones, some of which will give the recipes for essential crafting gear.

To make new clothes for your character, you’ll need to have located the recipes for both theLoom, which processes your raw materials into wearable fabric, and theSewing Table, which is where you’ll actually assemble that fabric into your new clothing. You canmake clothes using leaf paper, rope, or linenafter it’s been processed, needingtwo pieces of fabric per garmentyou create.

After placing the Sewing Table and processing the fabric,interact with the Sewing Tableto make new clothing. You’ll see your current outfit, as well as a few empty slots for additional clothing. To make more, click theplus sign, where you’ll be able tochoose a materialas well as if you’re currently making atop or bottomfor your character, before you choose the color and complete the work. Stash unworn outfits in storage for now, but mannequins are scheduled for later release to display our other clothes.

Check the stats of an outfitbefore you make it, since the clothing you can craft once you’ve got access to the Sewing Table each haveunique gameplay perksonly accessible while you’re wearing that particular piece of clothing.

Your original clothing can be remade and recolored, but it doesn’t offer additional stat perks.

Recolor Clothing With The Pigment Pool

In theMachines tabof your build menu, you’ll eventually learn the recipe for aPigment Machine, and this can be used to recolor anything from clothing to gliders! To make dye in Aloft, you’ll need a handful of different resources, which we’ll list for you below. This massive pool takes up a bit of space, but if you’re looking tochange the color of your clothing, you can do so with dye in your inventory when choosing colors on the Sewing Table.

Each garment you color with the dye will require two dyes to color, regardless of how many of the color slots you put that color into.

If you’ve got extra dye on hand, crafting your very first pigment in the pigment pool will also unlock thePigment Shelvesover in theStoragetab, for you to safely stash any dye you’re not using at the moment.
