As you grow your neighborhood of Sims, there are sure to be dozens you meet with conflicting goals and dreams. These aspirations are what make them unique, and everyone deserves a shot at their wants. However, what do these aspirations mean and how do they impact your Sim?
We’ll break down what the aspirations are and how you can pursue them to give your sim a happy life. From the different Lifetime Wants to the consequences of a life poorly lived. Here’s everything you need to know to get started on giving your sims the life they’ve always dreamed of inThe Sims 2.
What Are Aspirations?
In The Sims 2, aspirations are whatdetermine a Sim’s personality and desires. There are several to choose from (and one that is hidden), allowing you todiversify your Simsand create plenty of unique individuals to guide through life.
Children and toddlershave the Grow Up aspirationsince they only want to become teens and adults faster!
When your Sim becomes a teen, they’ll get todecide on their aspiration. There’s another opportunity in college for young adults to changeonce they complete their sophomore year, but otherwise, your Sim will stay the same throughout their life.
Your Sim’s aspiration will influence theirwants and fears, which are needed to earn Aspiration Points and live a full life. If your Simcompletely fills their Lifetime Aspiration meter, they canchoose a second aspirationto keep them going.
If your Sim’s aspiration meter falls too low, they may need a visit from the shrink!

The Pleasure Aspiration
Sims with this aspiration seek out an easy, fun-filled life. They love going on dates, making new friends, and having adventures. A great night out is all they need after a busy day at work. Below are their potential lifetime wants:
Reach level 10 in the Gamer career track.
The Romance Aspiration
These Sims love love–like a lot. From dates to whirlwind romances, they want it all. Romantic Sims are well-liked and can easily sweep another Sim off their feet, but are also likely to stray and string multiple friends along. Below are their Lifetime Wants:
Reach level 10 in the Musician career track.
Have 20 Simultaneous Lovers
Be in love with 20 different Sims at the same time.
WooHoo with 20 Different Sims
WooHoo with 20 different Sims throughout life. None need to be a committed relationship.
The Family Aspiration
Those with the family aspiration want to settle down and start building a full household. From children to furry friends, they want a life full of love and laughter. Below are their Lifetime Wants and how to make them a reality:
Reach level 10 in the Law Enforcement Track.
Have 6 Grandchildren
Ensure the Sim’s child(ren) reaches adulthood and has 6 children total.
Have six children and ensure they each find a spouse.
Have at least three children attend and graduate from college.
Raise 20 Puppies or Kittens
Find or adopt 20 puppies or kittens throughout your Sim’s life.
Reach level 10 in the Education career track.
The Fortune Aspiration
Sims with the Fortune aspiration want wealth in their life. The more luxury, the better. Who cares about taste when the price tag speaks for itself? Below are their lifelong ambitions and how to bring it to fruition:
How To Achieve It
Earn $100,000
Get a high-paying job or run a successful business to earn this large sum.
Own 5 Top-Level Businesses
Purchase at least 5 community lots (or 4 if you run a business from home) and raise each of them to be a successful enterprise.
Have 6 Pets Reach the Top Career Level
Have 6 pets across your lifetime that reach the third level in their careers.
Become the Head of the SCIA
Reach level 10 in the Oceanography career track.
The Knowledge Aspiration
If your Sim wants to know the answer to every question imaginable, they likely have the knowledge aspiration. These Sims seek out the paranormal, the unknown, and the questionable. Below are their Lifetime Wants and how to fulfill them:
Reach the maximum level for every skill.
The Popularity Aspiration
Sims who aspire to be popular want to have the attention on them. They want dozens of friends, good memories, and enough fame to last a lifetime. Below are their Lifetime Wants and how to make them come true:
Reach level 10 in the Law career track.
Have 20 Simultaneous Best Friends
Have a high friendship rating with 20 Sims at the same time.
Have 20 Simultaneous Pet Best Friends
Have a high friendship rating with 20 Pet Sims at the same time.
The Grilled Cheese Aspiration
This want is hidden at first, but Sims who have it are easy to spot. They love Grilled Cheese more than life itself and would do anything for it. If they’re not snacking on a sandwich, they’re thinking about it. They only have one Lifetime Want:
Eat 200 Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Have a Sim consume 200 servings of grilled cheese in their lifetime.
How To Change Aspirations
While there isno immediate way to changeyour Sim’s aspiration, enough points will allow you toget the ReNuYuSenso Orb. This device allows you tochange a Sim’s aspirationa handful of times.
For total control,ensure your Sim is in a good moodand has at least Gold aspiration. Otherwise, the procedure may fail, and your Sim will bestuck with the Grilled Cheese aspirationas their primary goal.
If you want a Sim to have this aspiration, then go right ahead and let them use the machine while miserable.
Aspiration Rewards
As youearn aspiration points, you canredeem them for rewardsthat will make life easier for the household. Below are all the rewards available and what they do.
Be warned that these rewardsshould not be used if your current aspiration level is less than gold!Otherwise, the consequences could be disastrous.

On fail:A meteor shower falls onto the lot and causes multiple fires.

On success:When a cat or dog eats from the bowl, five days are added to their lifespan. They won’t go back an age bracket.

On success:All the Sim’s needs get a boost.
On fail:All the Sim’s needs drop, but won’t kill the Sim.

Thinking Cap
On success:The Sim’s skill learning rate is increased.
On fail:The Sim’s energy is immediately drained and they lose a skill point.

SimVac
On success:When used, a Sim can transfer 3,000 aspiration points or one skill point to themselves from another Sim–negatively impacting their relationship.
On fail:The chosen Sim receives the bonus, not the active Sim.
17,500
Love Tub
On success:Relationship outcomes are increased between the two Sims in the tub, allowing a better chance for acceptance.
On fail:The tub is a normal hot tub. At least it looks cool.

4 hours
Genuine Buck’s Famous Counterfeiting Machine
On success:Sims can print their own money for up to three hours, after which the machine will catch on fire and be unusable.
On fail:Your Sims will be fined and the machine can no longer be used.

Elixir of Life
On success:Your Sim gets three days removed from their age, allowing them to live a little longer.
On fail:Your Sim ages by three days, which can move them to the next age bracket or kill them. You’ve been warned!
