The Sims 2took the concept of vacations and dove deep into it with the Bon Voyage expansion pack. There are three types of destination: Far East, Tropical and Mountain, and each has its own unique attractions for Sims to enjoy.
Vacation destinations also have a range of different attractions, with tours being offered for those who are keen. Sims will stay in one of the hotels, bungalows or villas on offer, which cover different price points to make vacations accessible to a wider range of Sims.
How To Add Vacation Destinations To Your Neighbourhood
Before you may go on vacation, you’ll need tomake sure your neighbourhoodhas a set ofvacation destinations added
To check this, go to theneighbourhood screenand look at theicons at the top left.Thethird onealong has aplaneon it. If you canalso see a + symbolthat means you need toadd the destinations.
You should see the hover text’Click to add a Vacation Destination'.Follow the instructions and click to bring up thedestination selection screen.
Which Destinations Can You Add?
The next screen will allow you to selectTakemizu Village, a Far East vacation spot,Three Lakes,a mountainous location, orTwikkii Island, a tropical beach destination.
The last option isAdd All,which will createall three destination neighbourhoods,and give you the most choice.
How To Go On Vacation
Once thevacation destinations have been added, Sims can go on vacation by using thephone on their home lot. Simply click on the phone and selectVacation > Book Vacation.This will bring up theTrip Planning screen.
Here you can choose from the following options:
To take other Simswith you,click their nameso it appears green, thenpress the arrow with a + on. The name will then move to theVacation List.
You can have8 guests maximum, and anymistakescan beundoneby selecting a name on the Vacation List andchoosing the - arrow.
In thetop right-hand corneryou will also see thetotal airfare. This is always500 Simoleons per Sim.
Press thetick to confirm.
The next screen will offer you achoice of location.When you click the location, you’ll see alist of four to five places to stayappear on theright-hand side.You canselect one in advanceor opt forchoose upon arrival,and decide when you’ve seen them for yourself.
Thebottom half of the menutells you the size of the hotel, a little about it, and gives aprice range.This varies fromfree to $$$$$. The more Simoleon signs, the more expensive the rooms are.
When you’ve decided,select the tickonce more, and you are ready to go.Airfares are taken immediatelyfrom your household funds.Hotel costs are taken after you select your room and check in.
Do Vacations Affect Your Job?
Going on vacationwill not affect your career, and youdo not need to take vacation days. When you leave the lot it willsave in the state it is currently in.
After your vacation, you willreturn to the loton the same day you left.Time and aging are frozenwhile you are away, but youcannot stay more than seven daysin a vacation world.
Who Can Go On Vacation?
Children, teens and adultscan go on vacation. If you havebabies, toddlers, or pets,then they’ll need tostay at homewith anadult household member or nanny.
Where Can Sims Go On Vacation?
There are three vacation locations: Takemizu Village, Twikkii Island, and Three Lakes.Here’s what you need to know about each one.
Takemizu Village
Takemizu village is aFar Eastern destinationwith four accomodation options,two vacation homesavailable to purchase, andseveral community lots.
Theneighborhood lotsare: TakemizuPagoda and Market, Lucky ShrinePark, ImmortalZen Garden, Three CornerFood Mart, and Takemizu VillageHot Springs.

Twikkii Island
Twikkii Island is a tropical beach resort with plenty ofoceanside accomodation. There arethree hotels, a set ofrental bungalows, two vacation homes andplenty of community lotsto explore.
The community lots are:Ancient Ruinsof Numchuck,Majestic Ruinsof Jumbok IV, TwikkiiBeach Boardwalk, White SandHot Springs, FruitvilleVillage, SeawaterBeachParadise, South EndBeach.

Three Lakes
