How To Unlock Multiplayer
To unlock multiplayer functionality, you need to spend some time exploring the island andcomplete the Small Gift Big Smile questwith My Melody. From there, you can begin inviting friends or visiting their islands yourself!
How To Join Multiplayer
To join a multiplayer island, you need togo to the main menuand select the multiplayer option. Then,enter the code you were givenso you can start connecting.
Once there, you willarrive at the resortand can interact with the host. Make sure touse emotes to spread joy and communicatewith your friends!
How To Host Multiplayer
To host, you canstart up your desired save, then open the phone in-game andchoose the Multiplayer option. Copy your friend code and send it to who you want to play with.
If you’re playing on Steam, you candirectly invite friendsfrom your friends list!
Wait for your friend to joinbefore leaving the multiplayer menu, as closing out can cause the code to regenerate differently. Once your friend arrives, you can explore the island with them!
You can alsokick them from your game from the multiplayer menuif you want them to leave.
Friends From Afar Quest Walkthrough
Once you unlock multiplayer,Keroppi has a questfor you to complete.Speak to him at the resortto start the quest, which involves inviting a friend to visit your island.
To start this quest, you’ll need toopen the nature preserve.
Open your phone andselect the Multiplayer appto generate your friend code.Send it to a friend or post it onlineso another player can visit you, then wait for them to join.
After they arrive,speak with Keroppi again. Now he wants you to level up your friendship toobtain a Friendship Bead. These beads canonly be obtained through multiplayer, and you’ll need toincrease your friendship level with your new guestto obtain one.
By increasing your friendship level and obtaining the bead,Keroppi will trade you for it. In exchange for the bead, you’l get an exclusive item.

What You Can Do In Multiplayer
As you explore with your friends, youcan collect itemslike you normally would. However, theitems are not instanced, so if one of you collects the items, the other cannot. However, you cantrade items with each otherby gifting them!
Once you gift an item, you can’t get it back unless the other player decides to regift it to you.
Additionally, you cancomplete weekly queststo increase your friendship level. Both players have access to this menu, and the objectives include taking selfies together, gathering items, and completing minigames together.
When racing and playing minigames together, the best way tomake sure the game registers teamworkis to collect rewards together. For timed courses, one of you canstep on the button and the other can start collectingthe flowers that appear.
As you increase your friendship level, your friend can evenmove into one of the cabinsaround the island!
