Many of the quests inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2are in multiple parts; one even reaches part Z. Along the way, you’ll meet various interesting characters and will have to do stuff to help them out. You’ll meet a Hermit in the woods a few hours into the game and you’ll need to return to him with some information.
However, once you get back, not everything is as it seems. The quest objective changes to ‘find out what’s going on." You speak to some soldiers who tell you the truth about the man pretending to be the Hermit. Now, you need to decide how to approach the situation. While he may be a bad person, you may need to save the Hermit to get the info you need about the sword he stole.
After speaking to the soldiers about the situation,head up to Konrad’s camp. The idea is that you sneak in and creep around to the right, setting the straw pile alight to draw the Hermit out of the area.
Naturally, you’ll either run to face the Hermit head on, or creep to the side of him so that he doesn’t spot you. However, there’s a better way to approach things to get the information you’re after and keep the Hermit alive, at least temporarily.
What you want to do isslowly walk normally into the area where Konrad is until he spots you. He’ll ask who you are and argue with you after you explain that all you want to do is find out about the sword.
Don’t run at him, as he’ll attack you on sight without giving you a chance to explain.
Say that you’re not his enemy and that you’re “just trying to get answers” when prompted to and he’ll allow you to approach him to talk. Again, do so slowly. You’ll then be able toask him about the location of Ambrose’s sword. If you don’t get the chance to speak to him, the only way to find out the location is to kill him and loot the chests in his hut. You’ll need good lockpicking skills, and somelockpicks, to do that.
How To Save The Hermit
You’ll then get the chance toeither help Konrad or fight him to the death. To save him,become his ally and defeat the other soldierswho you’d just agreed to help. It’ll be two against three, so you’ll need to be strong enough to take them on. Killing Konrad is by far the easiest option.Kill the others and Konrad the Hermit will be saved.
You can actually agree to kill Konrad after getting the sword location information out of him. It’s the most simply option here.
How To Find The Sword
Once you have the details of where sword is, follow the objective marker up the hill behind the Hermit’s camp and keep going straight until you reach a meadow.
The sword will be buriedon top of a grave to the right as you enter the meadow, under a small tree. Grab it and the quest will be over.
