InSplit Fiction’sthird chapter,Hopes of Spring, you have some shapeshifting abilities to help you traverse the area and solve the puzzles. Mio can gain strength by becoming a mighty gorilla, or swim by becoming an otter… fish… dog… thing, while Zoe can become light and airy as a fairy, or control the forest itself as a tree.
When it comes to the bird puzzle, where three bird eggs sit by a locked door, you’ll need Zoe in tree form while Mio becomes a gorilla. The solution to this one is effective, but it’s unfortunately not all that pretty. Sorry little birdies.
This is not where you get the One Bird, Three Stones Trophy/Achievement, which instead comes later in Hopes of Spring as you cansee in our complete Achievement/Trophy guide.
How To Solve The Bird Puzzle
In theLord Evergreensection of Splt Fiction’s Hopes of Springs (after the Train Heist Side Story), there will be an array of tools that seem to fit together. In the far corner, you havethree birds,one of which ispartially hatched. You also havea seesaw and a large tree trunk, which seem connected to each other but little else, anda locked doorin the form of a boarded up tree cavern. Obviously, the challenge is toopen the locked door, but it’s not immediately straight forward how to do it.
The first thing is thatMio must be an ape, whileZoe should be the tree person. Let’s doZoe’s job first, as it’s simple. However, it does rely on timing. As a tree, Zoe shouldpull the log back as far as it will go, and hold it. Now forMio’s role. She mustpick up the egg(it doesn’t matter which one) andplace it on the seesaw. It should be on the side that is parrallel to the log, ie the one next to the door, ie the one in the ‘middle’ as you look at the area from the entrance.
Mio should thengo to the other side of the seesaw. Then with her monkey strength,slam down. This will send theegg shooting up. IfZoe releases the log at the right time, it willswing forward and smash the door down. This not only destroys the barrier, but fully hatches the bird. So it’s actually a good deed clobbering that baby bird.
If Zoe mistimes the release, just set it up again. There’s no hard fail for this puzzle.
With the door open, you can continue onwards with Splt Fiction, but if you want to grab every Achievement/Trophy in the game, you unfortunately aren’t done hurting birds just yet.
