Lava is found inHello Kitty Island Adventure, typically around Mount Hothead. While it’s not too common around the entire island, you’ll need to navigate rocky terrain filled with lava every once in a while, especially if you are trying to make your way to the Caldera.
Rather than accidentally jumping in and being placed back to where you started, consider just gaining the ability to swim in lava! This is no easy task, but it definitely makes exploration a bit simpler. Here, we will take a look at how you’re able to swim in lava in Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

What Ability Lets You Swim In Lava?
Rather than taking a potion to swim in lava, the ability is gained through a companion. When you reachfriendship level 19 with Retsuko, she will provide theability called Hot Stuff, which lets you swim in lava.
Friendship level 19 is quite far, sobe sure to give Retsuko daily gifts. Her favorite gift is theVolcanic Guitar, which can be made withtwo Ingot, two Sparks, and one Mechanism. This isn’t too difficult, but you’ll need to firstobtain the recipe from Tophatwhen you reachfriendship level four with him.

Once you reach friendship level 19 with Retsuko, ask her to follow you andyou’ll automatically gain the ability.
At friendship level 17 with Retsuko, you’ll unlock the quest called Swimming Lessons. The name is a bit misleading, but the completion of this quest does not factor into learning to swim in lava with Retsuko.Still, we suggest doing this guest, as you’llearn a cute little swimsuit.
Why Swim In Lava?
Without this ability, falling into lava causes you to be placed back in your position on land.If you are trying to navigate somewhere that requires you to jump around on small rocks amidst a lava pool, then falling in can easily happen (especially if you areplaying the mobile version of the game,as it’s a bit hard to be precise with your movement).
When this ability is active, you will continue to be in the lava, swimming alongside Retsuko as you would with normal water. There is no time limit;you can swim around, explore, and even take some pictures.
It’s worth noting thatnot all lava can be swam in.It seems that thelava in the Red Hot Rampage minigame does not count;falling into this lava will still cause you to be placed back to your previous location.
Overall, swimming in lava is agreat way to get around a bit quicker.Rather than crossing the lava bridge that goes across the lava running down from the Caldera, just swim across! This ability also comes in handyduring challenge courses like Hothead Hot Foot, which crosses lava.
