Thus far, inTails Of Iron 2: Whiskers Of Winter,Arlo has been on the defensive, repelling rank-and-file Darkwing forces. After weakening their frontline, it’s time to strike at two of the strongest Darkwing enemies you’ve encountered thus far and deal a blow to their efforts against Winter’s Edge.
Challenging battles against a Darkwing Captain and General await you in Return Of The Bats, so prepare yourself and your gear to be pushed to the limit. Luckily, you won’t be thrust into these fights alone, as your work during previous quests will pay off as Robin of Longtail accompanies you on this excursion.
How To Push The Darkwing Forces Back In The Outskirts
After you’ve met Robin of Longtail andcompleted Rescue The Rangers,you can beginReturn of the Bats.The Darkwing menace has returned to terrorize the Outskirts, and it’s your job to stop them.
Head to the Outskirts and travel leftwith Robin where Bat Scout Warriors will immediately attack you as they chase the fleeing villagers.
After the battle, continue your trek left tofind Mossbug Farm on fire,and witness the Darkwing General commanding troops before fleeing the scene.
Following the ensuing combat against more Darkwings, the village elder will direct you to the castle ruins on the hill.
Head left to begin your journey to the ruins.
On the way to the ruins, you’ll encounterCaptain Cragz Undead Spearmanstanding in your way.
Dodge past the charge attacks anduse your ranged weaponto get shots into the beast’s back, which will help whittle down the HP bar.
Be careful as the Spearman turns itself into a swarm of bats and teleports around the battlefield.
Use Robin’s presence as a distractionto get free hits into the miniboss, and soon your quarrel will be defeated.
Continue further left, then pass under the archway to go to the upper path on the map.
How To Unlock The Electric Elementa
Break through the vines with your two-handed weaponand climb up the ladder until you’re forced to jump off onto theleftplatform.
Climb to the higher level, then jump off a second ladder anduse your grapple midairto reach the right side of the top section.
Break the wooden planks to enter a room with a “Saphire” in a chest and some materials to mine.
Before you enter the next area,equip your best Fire and Electric weapons;you’ll need them.
Climb the final ladder and head right into the last section of this path: theRuins of Long Fang Castle.
Here you can save, refill your health potion, and trade with a merchant.
When you’re ready, progress into the next area where you’ll find thefourth magic statue that will bestow the Electric Elementaupon you.
How To Defeat Countess Iblis Riding The Scorching Ishtar
Go right and up the ladder to meet your true enemy:Countess Iblis riding The Scorching Ishtar.
Iblis will ride the huge bat across the sky, forcing you to dodge her swooping attacks andchip away from range until she lands.
Dodge her tail swings byrunning underneath Iblis to her other side,then continue launching your ranged attacks alongside Robin.
At about 30–40 percent HP remaining,Iblis will dismount and begin attacking from the ground.
Avoid her shield toss attack and the poison residue on the ground.Iblis can also dashacross the battlefield with a lunge attack, so prepare to dodge and create distance to survive.
The dash attacks can cover the entire length of the battlefield,so don’t relax even if Iblis is far away, as your timing must be accurate to avoid being hit.
At ten percent health remaining,Iblis will abandon her weapons and throw ice at you,so dodge or block the attacks to avoid being frozen.
Dodging these attacks is incredibly challenging, so blocking them with an Ice-resistant shield is the safer option.
Be patient and avoid committing to attacking until right after Iblis launches hers, as her quick recovery leaves you with shorter windows than usual.
With Iblis defeated, you can loot the ley and unlock the cage to free the imprisoned villagers.

With Iblis and The Scorching Ishtar defeated, you’ll earn the following rewards from your victory:
Return to Mossbug Farm and speak with the village elder again, who will thank you for your help, thus completing Return Of The Bats.
