Friedrich, Baroque eschews his Oblique counterpart’s focus on scientific achievement in favor of cultural prowess while maintaining Oblique’s overarching emphasis on military might. This makes for an… interesting combination, which might come across as somewhat at-odds, but therearereal perks to the approach.
Our work-in-progress coverage on Friedrich, Baroque will help guide you toward a firmer understanding on his Attributes, an overall technique on how to guide him to victory, and some thoughts on which civs will accentuate his strenghts while downplaying any potential weaknesses in Friedrich’s might-meets-culture acumen.

Friedrich, Baroque Leader Overview
Something which makes Friedrich, Baroque’s odd mixture function at least passably well is thatLegacy Paths are more important in Civilization 7 than might first meet the eye. What we mean here is thatthere are times when Militaristic/Cultural will work quite nicely in your favor.
Those times are often tied to the Exploration Age, mind you, but consider thatcapturing Settlements earns Great Works, which contributes greatly to the Exploration Age’s religion-centric Legacy Path.

Gain a Great Workwhen you capture a Settlement for the first time.
Gain an Infantry unit whenever you construct a Culture building.
How Do Friedrich’s Attributes Work?
Friedrich, Baroqueoperates on a simple premise:further your military ambitions with the aid of Culture. And that premise works in reverse:shore up your Cultural achievements for military benefit. It might not seem doable, but trust us, it works!
What Civs Work Best With Friedrich, Baroque?
Friedrich, Baroque is rather malleable in this regard. Anything thatserves to enhance his Cultureis going to do great, and anything thatbolsters his strengthwill work in tandem.
There’s no “wrong” choice between Cultural and Military Victoriesfor Friedrich, Baroque, but the gem is that you can do well in chasing both.
Persia
Persia’sImmortalis a spectacularly powerful Infantry unit, and you’ll also gain+3 Combat Strengthwhen attacking - which you’ll be doing quite a bit of via all those free Infantry units you’re earning.
ThePairadaezauniqueImprovementadds +1 Gold (which is always nice) and - importantly -+1 Culture. As it’s an improvement, you’re able to stack these; you just can’t place them beside one-another.
Aksum
Aksum has plenty of ways toincrease your income, which is important for any civ; for warmongers, it means purchasing units aplenty and getting all those conquered Settlements up to speed.
TheHawiltuniqueImprovementadds +2 Gold, as well as+1 Culture for adjacent Wonders and other Hawilts. You’re going after Wonders, after all!
Rome
Rome’sLegionis another excellent Infantry unit, and you may secure more of a frontline against the rivals you intend to subjugate via theLegatusunique Commander’sSettlement-foundingcharge after three Promotions.
Both of Rome’s uniqueBuildings, theTemple of Jupiter and the Basilica, earn adjacency bonuses from Wonders. The latter even earns them from adjacent Culture Buildings. (They’re also great sources of other forms of wealth.)
