Summary
We currently know very little about theGod Of WaradaptationAmazonis working on outside of it existing. However, its showrunner has revealed Amazon has already given the green light to make at least two seasons of the show despite its first season still being a long way from completion.
ShowrunnerRonald Moore was a guest on Katee Sackhoff’s Sackhoff show, during which he spoke extensively about his love of Star Trek. However, with the God of War adaptation likely the biggest thing on his plate right now, and with fans of the series eager to know more of what to expect from it, the showrunner shed a little light on how things are going behind the scenes.

The biggest reveal was thatAmazon has already ordered two seasons of the show. While giving movie sequels or second seasons the green light early is commonplace -Sonic 4 was confirmed the week before Sonic 3 sped into theaters- to give God of War’s TV show a second season when work on its first season is presumably still far from over is quite the statement. Clearly Amazon has a lot of faith in the show despitework reportedly starting over with Moore as its new showrunnerin 2024.
Amazon Has Already Greenlit A Second Season Of Its God Of War Adaptation
Early Evidence That The Studio Thinks It Might Have Something Special On Its Hands
As for why Moore was brought on board to head up Amazon’s God of War project, it’s not his love of gaming. “I tried, I’m not a gamer,” Moore told Sackhoff. “I’ll take a stab at it… I grew up in the arcade era.” Moore cited the complex controllers compared to when he would more frequently play games, but also noted his kids and his wife are great at it, revealing his wife is a hugeSkyrimfan and has been playing the Elder Scrolls game since it launched.
Even though it’s still not much, this is the most we have been told about what Amazon has planned for God of War even thoughits existence was confirmed more than two years ago. Since thenfans have been assured it will be true to the source material, and thatit was in the early stages of production in February 2023. However, with work starting over last year, it’s probably still a long way off.
As for its showrunner not being an avid gamer, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The team working on the show will not only be filled with people who have played through all of the God of War games, but Moore and Amazon will be working closely with the team at Santa Monica to verify the show is something both God of War fans will love, but likeThe Last Of UsandFallout, will also be a show that draws in people like Moore who haven’t played the games.
