Clothing and armour have durability in KCD2, with different experts being able to repair different components. The more you walk, the more worn down your shoes get, so you need to see a cobbler to get them fixed. You can walk barefoot, sure, but you’ll lose out on any bonuses your shoes would have provided.
It’s part of the game’s wider effort to provide a more realistic fantasy experience, but of course, as with any tedium, modders have already removed it.
Infinite Shoe Durability Stops Your Feet From Getting Sore
rhyBread released a mod called"Infinite Shoe Durability"earlier this week, which does exactly what it says on the tin: your shoes won’t fall apart from neglect anymore. It’s part of their wider series of mods that make the game easier, like adding more carry weight, keeping you clean for longer, removing jump stamina, and making merchants richer.
You could argue these mods go against thesoleof the game, but there are those celebrating this new little cheat, like thecoolcatjack who decried that the shoe wear and tear is “the worst new mechanic in the game”. Mostly because they don’t last very long, around the two-hour mark.
Others, however, still want their shoes to break, just a bit slower. So, rhyBread added an option that doubles their durability. A nice in-between that feels more in-line with KCD2’s ethos.
