Summary
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2references Henry’s infamous knack for constantly telling the player that he was “quite hungry” in the first game.
As unique and beloved as the firstKingdom Come: Deliveranceis, anyone who has played it is sure to admit that it had its fair share of problems and quirks. The save system and quest design quickly jump to mind, but one of the most infamous ishow vocal Henry was when it came to the game’s survival mechanics.
The most notable example of this was hunger, as Henry would regularly exclaim outloud that he was feeling “quite hungry” as a way to remind players to feed him and not suffer debuffs. While playersinitially found it very annoying and even created mods to shut him up, it’s swung back around to being something that fans find charming.
Henry Is Just As Hungry In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Which brings us to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which just launched today. The sequel makes a number of improvements to mechanics that players found annoying, but it does still have the survival elements. That means Henry still gets hungry and will regularly tell the player about it, just like he did in the first game.
That’s not all, though, as Warhorse Studios saw fit to sneak in a little reference to the voice line that Kingdom Come: Deliverance fans have no doubt had in their head for years. During combat, Henry can perform a battle cry at his enemies, which causes him to shout at them and can even cause a damage increase if you invest in a perk.
One of the voicelines that Henry can randomly sayduring this war cry is a direct nod to what he used to say when hungry in the first game- “I feel quite hungry!”. Of course, this time he shouts it at the top of his lungs as his enemies instead of muttering it to himself, but it’s clearly meant to be a cheeky easter egg for fans.
I’ve no idea what Henry thinks telling his opponents that he’s hungry is going to do, but let’s just pretend he means hungry for battle and not for some snacks every half-hour.
Of course, if you’re on the other (frankly understandable) end of the community thatdoesn’tlike being constantly reminded that Henry is hungry, you might be a bit out of luck for now. PC gamers will no doubt work their modding magic quickly to make him a little less reliant on food, though.
