Summary

In just 13 days, short of two full weeks,Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, thesequel to 2018s title of the same name, has crossed over two million units sold. Originally, the game reportedly sold over a million units a day after launch on February 5. In TheGamer’s review, SamHallahan praised the game’s story and complexity, writing"It’s not just a game about history - it’s a game that feels like it’s making history."

Now, it’s smashed its own record, and it doesn’t seem like there are any signs of stopping it.

Gamers Were Hungry For More Kingdom Come: Deliverance

When the game was reported to have passed one million units sold, its director, Daniel Vávra, shared with a Czech news outlet that it had already made back its budget. In other words, it began turning a profit.

For reference,by November of last year, Alan Wake 2 still hadn’t recouped its budget. It wasn’tuntil last week that it was reported that, after finally crossing two million in sales, the game was profitable.

Compared to the first title, KCD 2 is moving at a rapid pace. Late last year, Warhorse Studios revealed that the first game had passed eight million units sold after having been on the market for six years. Ultimately, only time will tell if Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has the juice to hit that same mark, but if it does, it’ll do so quicker than its predecessor. Either way, it’s a remarkable achievement for a studio that only has two games to its name.
