The first reports of Lego’s massive new Death Starbegan to filter in at the end of 2024, claimingit will be released in October 2025 and cost an eye-watering $999.99. If accurate, that would make it the most expensive Lego set ever. Now new details about the set have emerged revealing the price might not be the only Lego record it breaks.
If the new Lego Death Star is real, and it does cost $1,000, it will take the record for most expensive Lego set away from another Star Wars set -the $849.99 Millennium Falcon.
According toInstagram account thebrickreporter,the Death Star set will include more than 40 Minifigures. If that new detail is accurate, it will have more Minifigures than any other Lego set to have come before it. The Castle Giant Chess set is the current holder of that particular Lego record (thank you,StudBee) with 33 Minifigures, 32 of which are needed for it to be a functional chess set.

One That Will Smash Its Current Minifigure Record
Right after it isthe $500 Avengers Tower setthat includes Lego versions of 31 characters from the MCU, and in third is an older Death Star set with 27 Minifigures. That’s right, there has, of course, been a Lego Death Star before, and even that was pretty big. The retired set was more than 4,000 pieces and cost $500 when it was available.
It’s hard to imagine there’s potentially a set coming that will cost twice as much and include almost twice as many Minifigures. Looking down a list of characters included in the prior Death Star, you have to think there are going to be some deep Star Wars cuts if this is the real deal. Almost certainly characters we have never seen in Lego form before, at least not outside of the games.
2025 is shaping up to be a big one for big Lego sets.A third The Lord Of The Rings setin as many years is seemingly on the way with a first look at a set based on The Shire leaking this week. While still big and expensive, The Shire set will reportedly be less than half the price of Lego’s other LOTR sets. There’s alsoa new Mario Kart set aimed at older Lego fansreleasing this May, clocking in at almost 2,000 pieces.
