Summary
Mario Day is right around the corner, and it’s a big one this year. It’s been 40 years since the release ofSuper Mario Bros, and even thoughNintendowill be saving its big revealsfor next month’s Switch 2 Direct, it will be celebrating this weekend’s Mario Day in other ways, including freeLego.
Nintendo began what has become a very successful relationship with Lego in 2020 and Mario has naturally been at the center of that relationship since the beginning. A lot of characters and locations from the Mushroom Kingdom have been turned into Lego sets since, and if you buy some of thembetween now and May 13, 2025,you could get a free set, one money can’t usually buy, thrown in for free.

If youspend $40 or more on Super Mario setsat the Lego store, thenthe Mario Kart - Toad (Pit Crew)set will be added to your cart free of charge. Even though the listing for the Toad set has a $4.99 price crossed out, I don’t believe it can be bought separately. Similar tothe Brite Bomber set Lego has previously given awaywhen you spend enough on itsFortnitesets.
Provided You Spend $40 Or More On Other Mario Lego Sets
The Toad set is a relatively small one at just 39 pieces and includes a buildable Toad working a pit stop station forMario Kartcharacters. The first Mario Kart Lego setswere released to kick off 2025 with various characters who have been a part of the spinoff series for decades included. If you have any of them, the Toad set can effectively be an add-on. Or, if you spend $40 or more on Mario Kart sets between now and Tuesday, the Toad set will come with them at no additional cost.
To qualify for the free Toad set, you will need to have $40 worth of Lego Mario sets in your cart. Buying a cheaper Mario set and then using non-Mario sets to bring the total to more than $40 won’t do the trick.

Even though it’s highly unlikely we’ll be getting a look at any upcoming Mario games for Mario Day this year, there is more than just a free Lego set to look forward to. Nintendo is holdinga rare community event in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, tasking players with completing one million laps in ten days. The challenge begins tomorrow and you will need the tournament code if you want to take part.
