The Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii xAngry Birdscrossover was shared by userLewisin the Like a Dragon Twitter community. In a video, Majima can be seen visiting the Bang Bang Prize Exchange, where points can be exchanged for soundtracks — here, they purchased four songs from the Angry Birds OST: Main Theme, Boat, Magma Riders, and Pigates of the Caribbean. Music fromTotal War: Pharaohcan also be purchased.
All four songs have seemingly been curated for Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, with each track having a distinct pirate flavor.
In a second video posted by Lewis, Majima is seen walking around the bar district of the game, with the Angry Birds main theme playing in the background, which fits perfectly.
At first glance, having Angry Birds music in a Like a Dragon game seems wild, but it’s not quite as unexpected as you might think.
In 2023,Sega acquired Angry Birds creator Rovio in a deal worth $776 million. The purchase was a big one for Sega, but it happened around the time that Microsoft acquired Activision, Bethesda, and PlayStation purchased Bungie, so it went slightly under the radar. With that in mind, this crossover makes perfect sense and is another opportunity for Sega to showcase one of its IPs.
