Summary
Mario Day is coming up and despite this year being the 40th anniversary of the original release ofSuper Mario Bros, ifNintendohas anything big planned, it’s currently keeping it under wraps. We do know one way it plans to celebrate though - by taskingMario Kart 8 Deluxeplayers with completing one million laps over ten days.
Dubbedthe Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Community Challenge, Nintendo has revealed what it will be expecting of you, and what you will need to do to complete the challenge, on its website.Starting from 3 am EST on June 15, 2025,players will have exactly ten days to cumulatively complete one million laps in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Before you start planning your attack, there are a few things you need to know. First of all, only laps completed in the tournament created specifically for this event will count towards the total. Once the community challenge is live, you will need tohead to the game’s Tournaments' tab and enter the code 1152-2501-4827. That will put you in races against others online, and any laps you complete will keep the lap counter ticking up.
Nintendo Is Holding A Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Community Challenge To Celebrate Mario Day
One Million Laps In Ten Days, Reckon We Can Do It?
Nintendo isn’t asking you to race one million laps purely for the fun of it, although it will be a lot of fun. If we all manage to hit that lofty goal, thenwe’ll receive 310 Platinum Points for doing so. Why 310? Because Mario Day is March 10. The tenth day of the third month. Get it yet?
Platinum Points can be exchanged for all sorts, including physical goodies, and Nintendo has added a couple of new items to the prize pool in preparation for many of us hopefully becoming 310 points richer later this month. A transparent Super Mario bag is now available along with a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe license holder lanyard. Very nice, but I’ve still got my eye on that DK barrel pen holder.
