Summary

Marvel Rivalsis equal parts brilliant and janky. You have incredibly creative and inventive abilities, like Doctor Strange’s portal -which players have been using to torment The Punisher, wipe entire teams, and redirect an Iron Man’s ultimate - while you also haveincredibly busted and broken ultimates like Moon Knight’s, which do way too much damage and can delete you in a fraction of a millisecond.

Sometimes, Marvel Rivals is a little janky in ways you might not even notice. For example, one player recently discovered that Magneto’s ultimate appears to be a little bit buggy too, as it turns out the ball that you throw seems to have a bit of a wonky hitbox.

Marvel Rivals Fans Think Magneto’s Ultimate Is Actually Broken

Reddit user Wet_Birthday_Card was the one to uncover this little issue, who dived into practice mode for some tests after missing a couple of Magneto ults that “looked super weird in-game”. What they found is that the ball that Magneto conjures up can actually phase straight through a character, as this player demonstrated with Luna Snow in the video above.

How Magneto’s ultimate actually worksis that the ball absorbs all damage from projectiles in a given area, which Magneto then throws back as a large ball. This ball doesn’t actually deal any damage, but when it explodes on contact, it generates a large magical field that actually does deal damage, with said field growing in size depending on how much damage Magneto absorbs. That’s why you’re usually better off aiming at the floor next to an opponent rather than at them directly.

To visually demonstrate this, Magneto’s ball that he holds above his head grows larger, but it seems as though the hitbox of the ball doesn’t grow alongside it. That means it’s possible it could look like Magneto’s ult phases through characters when it should realistically hit them if the hitbox was accurate. At least, that’s what the problem appears to look like - either that or the ball is just straight-up bugged.

Couple that with thefairly dodgy third-person perspective issues in Marvel Rivals, and that could explain why you’re missing your Magneto ults. You’re probably better off flinging that thing at the ground for now, and hope that NetEase tweaks something in the game’s next major balance update.
