Unfortunately, that need for teamwork can make griefing especially easy, but Marvel Rivals makes it worse by making it extremely difficult to get rid of bad actors that you may be in a party with.A Reddit user called Gammageeknerdrecently shared their experience with two trolls on the Marvel Rivals subreddit earlier today, who both picked Jeff and Loki to make their competitive matches virtually unwinnable.
Marvel Rivals Fans Want A Ready Up Button To Help Combat Trolling
In their post, they explain that they formed a party from peoplein the official Marvel Rivals Discord, which can be a great way to find team members for competitive matches if you don’t like dealing with randos. In their first game, the party leader immediately locked into Jeff the Land Shark, using their Ultimate to swallow as many of their own team as they could and jump off a cliff, killing everyone.
In the next round, another person insta-locked Jeff in an attempt to solve this, only for the troll to then pick Loki, use his Ultimate to transform into Jeff, and then team kill everyone that way. Once the match was inevitably lost, the party leader then immediately queued for another game, which was found in a few seconds thanks to the game’s quick matchmaking.
This bad actor then started team killing with Jeff again, forcing a player to leave and cancel the entire match. The party leader then queued immediately again, dragging everyone into yet another match against their will, which they also had to cancel immediately by having a person leave. At the end of it all, this troll was able to disrupt three whole matches.
Of course, this is a problem that could be entirely avoided if Marvel Rivals had a “ready up” system in place, like pretty much every other online multiplayer game. Most of the replies to Gammageeknerd’s frustrating story are people trying to share workarounds (which they shouldn’t need to), or call for either a “ready up” function or a “vote to kick” function.
Even people who aren’t dealing with trolls are calling for this, frustrated that friends can sometimes accidentally start looking for a match while not everyone is ready, and then start a game because the matchmaking is too fast to cancel out in time. It;s defiitely a quality of life change that would go a long way in stopping potential trolling, and stop party leaders from having far too much power.
