Summary
Marvel Rivalsfans have a lot to celebrate recently. The addition ofHuman Torch and The Thing was popular and it didn’t unbalance the metalike everyone was worried about. NetEase also revealed in an earnings call that it plans on supporting Marvel Rivals for at least ten more years.
However, there will always be some complaints in a live-service game. Whether it’s repetitive maps, mediocre events, or server issues, everything can’t be perfect all the time. To that end, while players are happy with the character rollout by the devs, they do feel that there are too many duelists in the game right now.

It’s A Marvel Standoff
If you take a look at the current Marvel Rivals roster, you’ll notice that out of the 37 characters that are currently available, 20 are Duelists, with nine Vanguard and eight Strategists. While Duelists are always more fun to play, fans do think that the imbalance between the classes is too wide, considering that it has more heroes than the other two classes combined.
Replying to a post about this on Reddit byjarrys88, one comment said, “It also feels like the devs plan on keeping the ratio this skewed, considering we got 2 dps out of 4 new characters in season 1. Hopefully they really focus on releasing more tanks and healers but I don’t have very high hopes.”

However, other comments noted that some of the characters are hybrids, like Thor, Captain America, and Mister Fantastic, so the lines between classes are a bit blurred. Another also noted that Duelists are the easiest characters to design, while Vanguard and Strategists need a lot more thought and are limited by their powers in the Marvel universe.
“Does not matter if it is Overwatch, Paladins or [Marvel] Rivals, there will always be more damage dealers than tanks or healers because dps is the most loved role by the general audience,” noted another comment, suggesting that Duelists are just more popular.

However, not everyone likes playing as Duelists, so NetEase will hopefully be adding to the other classes in the future.
