Marvel Rivalscontinues to pull big numbers as we venture deeper into its first proper season. Along with two new characters, and two more still to come, Rivals season one brought with it a new LTM - Doom Match. The free-for-all mode lets players play as whichever character they like, regardless of who others have chosen. That, in turn, allows for duplicates and gave two Lokis and a Spider-Man a bright idea.
Usually, the second you see someone in Doom Match, you open fire. The alternative is waiting until they see you and strike first. Turns out there’s a third option. Mutually, and silently, agree to stop fighting for a few seconds so that you can recreate an iconic meme and have the moment go viral.
The clip, which comes courtesy of tomato_styles andhas been shared by Dexerto, begins with a Loki dropping down to street level to find a Spider-Man and another Loki. The first Loki uses their Ultimate to transform into Spidey. Seemingly without speaking to each other, and none of them attacking, the second Loki then uses their Ult to transform into Spider-Man too.

Three Spideys, Chillin' In A Doom Match
All three Spideys then stand in a triangle formation and hit an emote before one of them swings away. Unfortunately, Rivals doesn’t have a Spidey emote that makes the web-slinger point, so it wasn’t a perfect recreation of the Spider-Man meme you have almost certainly seen countless times, but it’s pretty close. Maybe someone on the Rivals team will see this and be inspired to add the point so another group of heroes can gather to recreate an even more accurate version of the meme in-game.
Am I the only one who was hoping once the moment had been captured that both Lokis would use their Spidey Ults at the same time, firing off webs in every direction so the briefly beautiful moment quickly descended into chaos?
Even though the three players above recreated the meme in Doom Match, the combination they used can be pulled off in a regular Rivals match. A Loki on each team and a Spider-Man coming together for a brief, fun moment. I can’t imagine the other nine players in the match would be all that happy about it, and there’s always an inherent risk that Iron Man yells “Maximum pulse” and kills the moment.
