MultiVersus will be shutting down after season five. It felt inevitable, but for the few still playing, it hurts all the same. Some of those still playing who want to be left with more than just an offline mode come Jul 08, 2025, are trying to rally people to help get the shutdown decision overturned. So much so that the issue has been trending on Twitter, but it isn’t having the desired effect on the game’s player count.
Cartoon Basehas been tracking the Save MultiVersus hashtag and noted that, at its peak during the past 24 hours,almost 19,000 people were talking about it on Twitter. By comparison,MultiVersus’s player count peaked at 1,320 on Steamduring the last 24 hoursaccording to SteamDB.
Now, of course, tweeting about your love for the game and vying for it to be saved is a lot easier than hopping back in and going a few rounds with Wonder Woman and Bugs Bunny. However, 1,320 players, while almost double its player count from just a week ago, is barely moving the needle. Particularly whenMultiVersuswas pulling in more than 150,000 players onSteamat its peak.

But That Success Isn’t Translating To Its Player Count
1,320 isn’t even the highest number MultiVersus has hit on Steam this week. ItsPCplayer count almost cracked the 2,000 barrier on Wednesday, the highest it has been since the end of November. However, even that isn’t going to be enough to save the game. Sure, people are playing on other platforms, but even if we were to generously assumePlayStationandXboxare bringing 2,000 more players each to the table, it won’t be enough to make Warner Bros. Games change its mind.
Even with those imaginary estimates accounted for, those playing the game are still in the minority when compared to those asking for it to be saved on social media. Most of the posts are lobbying for others to share the Save MultiVersus hashtag along with them when really the best course of action would be to rally people to go and actually play the game. It’s still free, after all.
Well, some people paid for it, andsome of those some now want their money back. There was a $100 Founder’s Pack option when the MultiVersus beta launched. The biggest draw of the pack was the 30 character tokens, and since there aren’t going to be any more characters after season five’s Lola and Aquaman, many of those tokens will go to waste, hence the refund requests.
