Ninja Gaiden 2 Black’s physical version isn’t suddenly going to start popping up everywhere, though. It’s a Play-Asia exclusive and if you like the idea of having a copy of the shadowdropped game you may hold in your hands, pre-orders have already begun.It’s $49.99, so the same price as the digital edition, andwill be released on Jun 01, 2025.
There is a catch, though. Not only is Ninja Gaiden 2 Black’s physical release exclusively available through Play-Asia, but it’s also exclusive toPS5. Even though it was revealed during Xbox’s Developer Direct, it seems like the physical version of the game will be skippingXbox Series X|S.

We’ll likely never know this for sure, but it feels like there may have been something of a trade-off here between Xbox andPlayStation. Although Ninja Gaiden 2 Black will be available physically on PS5, if you don’t want to wait for that or pay for the game at all, you can play it onXbox Game Passright now if you have Ultimate Game Pass for PC.
Team Ninja has released a definitive edition of Ninja Gaiden 2 for a few reasons. The leading reason is to prepare people for Ninja Gaiden 4which was the big surprise reveal during the Developer Direct. Devs also wanted to give fans of the series something new to do while they want for the next game which currently has a vague release window of fall 2025, although it looked pretty close to complete based on what was shown on Thursday.
It has also been created off the back of fan feedback about Ninja Gaiden’s Master Collection. The sequel’s Black edition will bring elements of the original and the Sigma port together under one umbrella. It also promises to be just as brutally challenging as the original version of the game, and Team Ninja has already assured fansthe same will apply to the new installmentcoming later this year.
