Summary
Thursday’s impromptuNintendo Directwasfull of exciting announcements and updates, though it appears what has fans talking about the most —besides the long-awaited return of Tomodachi Life— is the mysterious “C” button that was spotted after the broadcast.
As part of the Direct,Nintendo revealed the “Nintendo Today” app, a platform where news about Nintendo and daily updates will be shared with players. Onthe app’s storefront page, in one of the images, a render of the Switch 2 console is shown featuring a “C” button on the right Joy-Con.

The image, which is still included on the app page, appears to be an inadvertent leak of further details about the console that will likely be revealed in next week’s Switch 2 Direct. Still, it’s driving fans up the walls trying to figure it out.
Capture, Community, Calendar?
Over on Reddit, there’s no shortage of threads filled with Nintendo fans attempting to deduce what exactly the “C” button will ultimately be used for.
While some have guessed “Capture,“it’s worth noting that the Left Joy-Con still has its dedicated button that was used for screenshots, making it seem less likely.

Others have wondered if the “C” stands for Community, with the button taking you to a dedicated landing spot for game invites and chat functionality. Some have suggested a Calendar, though that feels a little underwhelming.
Perhaps the “C” stands for Cursor, and pressing it allows players to use the Joy-Cons like keyboard mice. After all, that was part of a recent leak. Or maybe the “C” stands for nothing, as has been the case in previous Nintendo consoles that had a “C” stick. Whatever the case may be, it won’t be too long before we find out.
