Summary

Blizzardunveiledtwo new characterscoming toOverwatch 2earlier this week. One of them will be available to play very soon, with Freja being trialed in Season 15, which kicks off on February 18.

However, not everyone is pleased with the new Damage hero. As soon as her design was shown off at the latest Overwatch Spotlight, it immediately came under fire for being so similar to the designs of other female characters. Many feel that this is yet another example of Overwatch 2 lacking body diversity amongst its female heroes since so many of them have similar silhouettes.

Overwatch 2 Players Aren’t Happy With Freja’s Design

Some are even having a go at redesigning her to make her stand out some more

The most common complaint is that she looks very similar to Widowmaker, and it’s easy to see why fans are making that comparison. Both in her face and figure, she does look a lot like the sniper, and that’s not even getting into all of the other female characters who have a slim build.

Compare this with the male roster, and there’s much more variance. You’ve got your typical buff characters, like Soldier 76 and Reaper, but then you have a range of creative designs, like Junkrat, Roadhog, Mauga, and Reinhardt. There aren’t many female designs that stand out in the same way, outside of Junker Queen and Zarya, who have very different silhouettes than the others.

One fan over on Reddit has tried their hand at editing Freja’s design, trying to separate her from the similarities she shares with Widowmaker.

Of course, Freja isn’t the only new hero who was revealed for Overwatch 2. Another hero is on the way, codenamed Aqua. We don’t know too much about his kit yet, but he appears to use water magic.

Outside of the new characters, Blizzard alsounveiled a new game modeand confirmed thatloot boxes are coming back.
