Summary Yooka-Replayleehas completely changed the original game’s infamous Rextro’s arcade levels and fittingly made them more retro this time around. Although Yooka-Laylee waslargely seen as a successful adaptation and evolution of the Banjo-Kazooie formula, it’s fair to say that there were some elements that were a little undercooked.Perhaps the biggest example of this was Rextro’s Arcade levelswhich, despite the character’s pixel-theme, were really just small challenges. Ever since the protagonists ofAssassin’s Creed Shadowswere revealed to beYasuke and Naoe,Ubisofthas found itself at thecentre of controversy. While many detractors have used the argument of historical realism to go against the game - saying that it is inaccurate toportray Yasuke as a samurai- much of the conversation has devolved into overt racism. Now, game director Jonathan Dumont has touched on this at a preview event. Here, he doesn’t address the comments or hate coming from western audiences, but says that he is willing to hear Japanese fans out, as long as the feedback is “good” and “warranted”....

In shooters, you tend to play as people. In sports games, you tend to play as people. Fighting games, RPGs, and survival games? Buff people, pointy-eared people, and dirty people. But in platformers you can be anything. A gecko, a bandicoot, a dragon, an earthworm, a kid dressed like a rooster rolling a giant egg around, a puppet with dynamite for a head, and a pizza with legs — it’s all fair game....
