Summary

If there is one thing that could’ve been handled better in the last year, it was the rollout of thePlayStation 1-themed anniversary collection, specifically the PlayStation 5 Pro modeled after the classic PS1. Unfortunately, only 12,300 of those consoles were made, and evenwith Sony’s best efforts, including a minimum of 30 hours needed in Japan to even have a chance to buy one, it sold out instantly.

Fortunately, in the time since,a few restocks of the non-PS5 Pro-themed items, including a restock of the digital PS5, PlayStation Portal, DualSense and DualSense Edge, have happened. Still, that hasn’t helped erase the feeling of FOMO from avid PlayStation fans, with some even resorting to third-party accessories to make their console look as close to the real thing as possible.

That said, one fan decided to take things in a whole different direction. Forget the PS1, this fan decided to pay homage to thePlayStation 3with a fully customizedPS5 Pro.

The PS3 Finally Gets The Respect It Deserves

Taking to Reddit, Dense-Bee-2884 shared their custom console. It’s a base PlayStation 5 Pro, but instead of the standard white plates, they’ve gone and upgraded them to black plates, something Sony hasn’t made available to consumers via PlayStation Direct.

In the lower left-hand corner, they applied a 30th Anniversary sticker to make it appear like the real deal. Then, the best part, they had someone on Etsy create them a custom PlayStation 5 sticker in the iconic “Spider-Man” font that the PS3 used early on.

Unfortunately, it looks like the Etsy seller has run out of PS3-themed stickers, though the third-party offering non-branded plates for the Pro is still up. All of this is to say, where there is a will there’s a way, and if you weren’t fortunate enough to land a PS1-themed console, then don’t let that stop you. Or even better, when everyone zigs, then zag and make it PS3-themed.
