Summary
A reliable insider has claimed thatPlayStationis planning on hosting aState of Playshowcase at some point during the week of Valentine’s Day.
Even though we’re barely two months into 2025,it’s already proven to be a hell of a year for gaming news. In the past few weeks alone we’ve had thelong-awaited reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2and atruly surprising Developer Direct showcase from Xbox that revealed Ninja Gaiden 4and a remake of Ninja Gaiden 2.

Those two reveals made it clear that two out of the three big players were taking 2025 seriously but, aside from a few light bits of news, we’ve not really heard anything from PlayStation. That’s apparently going to change in less than two weeks, as a reliable insider has claimed that a State of Play is on the way.
PlayStation’s Next State Of Play Is Reportedly Coming In Less Than Two Weeks
As reported by VGC, this rumour comes courtesy of reliable gaming insider NatetheHate, who has proven himself to be quite trustworthy recentlywith all his reports on the Nintendo Switch 2 and several Xbox games coming to PlayStation. Over on Twitter, Nate was asked whether PlayStation is going to have a State of Play this month as it’s done in the past.
In response,Nate simply replied by saying “yes”, which led to one user asking him for a more specific date. While he didn’t outright say when the State of Play was happening, Nate replied by asking, “What does your heart tell you?",suggesting that it’s happening at some point during the week of Valentine’s Day.
If true, that means we’ve got less than two weeks to go until PlayStation rocks up with some announcements. As of the time of writing, no rumours or leaks have been spread about the lineup (expect that to change), but there are a number of possibilities.Ghost of YoteiandDeath Stranding 2both come to mind, but Sony is bound to have some surprises as well.
Just imagine if this State of Play is where we see GTA 6 again. Don’t even get me started on Silksong…
We also know that Astro Bot has some more post-launch content coming as well, which could end up appearing at the showcase. For now, it’s best to wait for PlayStation to formally announce the event before getting your hopes up too much, even if Nate is a reliable source.
