For the first time sinceit was revealed on Pokemon Day 2024, The Pokemon Company has given us a look at the upcomingPokemon Legends: Z-A.

The new trailer was part of2025’s Pokemon Day Pokemon Presents, and it gave us a deeper look at Mega Evolutions, Wild Zones, and the game’s starter Pokemon.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Trailer Reveals

Pokemon Legends: Z-A was revealed with a brief two-minute trailer a year ago. The trailer was nothing more than a tease, showing off the name, the location, and a handful of the Pokemon that will be available when the game releases, along with the reveal thatMega Evolutions will be returning. This year’s trailer went into far more detail.

Totodile, Tepig, and Chikorita, were confirmed as the game’s three starters, which is interesting given that both Totodile and Chikorita were both starters from Generation 2’s Gold and Silver.

The trailer also confirmed that Mega Evolutions would be returning to the game, which came as no surprise. However, maybe more surprising is the fact that no new Mega Evolutions were confirmed.

It was also confirmed that Lumoise City will be split into different areas, known as Wild Zones; this is where players will find and catch wild Pokemon, in a similar manner to that of Legends Arceus. Battling will be different from the previous Arceus game, though, as it is a mix of turn-based and real-time.

The Pokemon Company reiterated that the game would be coming in late 2025 but didn’t narrow down the release date any further than that, casting doubt on whether it will be a Nintendo Switch 2 launch title.
