Summary

Nintendohas had to deal with numerous leaks over the past year, mostly thanks toPokemon developer Game Freak suffering a gigantic data breach. It was during that period thatwe saw footage from scrapped games leak, details about projects in development surface, andvery strange and raunchy tales about Pokemon go viral.

Game Freak’sinfamous hacker has been fairly silent for a while now, mostly likely in an attempt to dodge Nintendo’s ninjas, but withthe upcoming reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2on the horizon, they seem to have chimed in with a few more bombshells.First shared by Twitter account Centro Leaks, the Game Freak hacker appears to have found codenames that hint at what platforms Gen 10 could release on.

Pokemon’s Next Mainline Game Will Seemingly Launch On Current Switch

According to the hacker, Pokemon Gen 10 andPokemon Legends: Z-Ahave the development codenames ‘Gaia’ and ‘Ikkaku’ respectively. This is how they’ve found so much info about both games, with both regularly referred to as such in the data they’ve been going through. However, they recently claimed that they have now found codenames for projects called ‘Super Gaia’ and ‘Super Ikkaku’.

While we don’t know for sure what these codenames are referring to - so take this with a pinch of salt - it seems extremely likely that these may be codenames for improved versions of Gen 10 and Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Since the latter is launching this year, that makes a lot of sense, but it’s quite surprising to learn that Game Freak may have plans to launch Gen 10 on both the current Nintendo Switch and its successor.

If that is the case, we have to assume that both Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Gen 10 could release within a relatively short timeframe, which wouldn’t be too odd since Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet were released in the same year. Two full-scale Pokemon games would be a lot in just three years of development though, and you’d have to worry about their quality on top of that too.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long for more info. We know that a Pokemon Presents showcase will air on Pokemon Day like it normally does, and Pokemon Legends: Z-A will almost definitely be there. However, this little tidbit does have me wondering if Game Freak could give us a little look at Gen 10 at the same time. Fingers crossed, eh?

Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is an ambitious new entry to the Pokemon video game series, releasing simultaneously worldwide in 2025. A new adventure awaits within Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokemon.
