Summary
It’s been known from as far back asAugust last yearthat Team Rocket would be returning to thePokemon Trading Card Game, with some hopes and expectations that the antagonists would feature in their own set.
While that’s certainly the case in Japan with The Glory of Team Rocket expansion, it doesn’t seem to be in the West.

In May, a new English language set, Destined Rivals, is due for release, and it looks like it will be a combination of Team Rocket cards and other Trainer’s Pokemon.
Team Rocket Will Seemingly Be Sharing A Pokemon TCG Set With Other Trainers
Pokemon hype is off the charts right now. Cards are selling for150 percent more than they were three months ago, andsealed products are being scalped like crazy. A Team Rocket expansion looked set to compound things, playing on the nostalgia from early expansions like Team Rocket and Team Rocket Returns.
While Rocket stans will still be feasting in Destined Rivals, it looks like they’ll be sharing the limelight with other trainers, courtesy of artwork featured on Gamescom Latam badges.

The badges for the event appear to reveal pack art for the upcoming set, with Giovanni and Mewtwo front and center. Giovanni will be joined by Rocket Grunts, Ethan, and Cynthia on the front of the booster packs. Notably, there seems to be no Jessie and James.
The Japanese sets Destined Rivals will pull from have already seen some cards revealed, including Ethan’s Ho-Oh, Cynthia’s Roserade, Steven’s Beldum, and Marnie’s Morpeko, and it’s likely Giovanni’s Mewtwo and other Rocket favorites will follow soon.
Future sets look to be focused on Pokemon Black and White and Mega Evolutions, so the hype isn’t going to die down any time soon; it’s just a shame we’re not getting that standalone Rocket set.
