Summary
WhilePokémon TCG Pocket, thehit mobile version of the popular card game, has squarelymoved onto its latest expansion, Space-Time Smackdown, that doesn’t mean everyone has managed to complete the deck for the original set, Genetic Apex. With a total of 286 cards, including a whopping 226 alone in the base set, completing Genetic Apex, particularly as a free-to-play player, is a lot harder than it looks.
Fortunately, it looks like Creatures Inc. and DeNA are going to be lending players a virtual hand when it comes to filling out their virtual Pokédex. What’s more, it looks like players won’t have to wait too long either.
Juicy Packs Are Coming
As first spotted on Reddit’s TCG Pocket subredditandalso confirmed via a Pokémon datamine website, beginning February 27, players will have access to three special booster packs that will guarantee a rare card.
The promo will coincidewith Pokémon Presents, a Nintendo Direct-like presentation solely for Pokemon-related news, and players will have through April 30 to claim the gift.
Via that gift, players will get one each of the Mewtwo, Pikachu and Charizard packs. Four of the cards in the pack will be regular cards, but the fifth card, according to the datamine, will be a guaranteed rarity of four diamonds or higher, including one-star or higher cards. In other words, you’ll be guaranteed at least one major hit from each of the three Genetic Apex boosters.
Considering that, by this point, avid players of the mobile game are likely missing some of the more rare cards, like Gengar EX or some of the full-art cards that are of multiple star variety, the promo should go a long way in helping that Pokédex look closer to being completed than before.Couple that with confirmation that adjustments will be coming to the long-awaited Trading feature, and Pokémon TCG Pocket players should be sitting very pretty relatively soon. That is until the next major set comes around.
