Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’smeta is stilldominated by Arceus ex, Dialga ex, and Darkrai ex decks. These three Pokemon alone account for over 30 percent of all archetypes currently being used. But while there are dozens of viable Pokemon combinations in the game, Triumphant Light has seen a sharp rise in the number of single-Pokemon decks.
According toLimitless TCG, three of the top 15 and five of the top 50 most popular current decks are built around a single Pokemon, presenting a new challenge for trainers to try and get to grips with.
Thankfully, while Triumphant Light has made single-card decks more viable, one of Space-Time Smackdown’s cards is an unlikely foil to them —Fan Rotom.
Fan Rotom Is A Great Option In Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket Decks
As mentioned, single-Pokemon decks are becoming more and more popular in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket.Articuno exis the sixth most popular deck, Palkia ex the eighth, Pachirisu ex 13th, Gallade ex 40th, and Garchomp ex 48th.
These decks aren’t just popular, though, as currently, Palkia ex has the highest win rate of any deck, and Articuno ex the fifth. They’re becoming a problem, but this is where Fan Rotom comes in.
Fan Rotom’s Spin Storm attack allows you, as long as you flip a heads, to put your opponent’s Active Pokemon into their hand. If the opponent doesn’t have a second Pokemon on their bench, Rotom will become the automatic victor.
It’s a similar strategy seen to the one used with Genetic Apex’sAerodactylcard and its Primal Wingbeat, except Fan Rotom is more viable as it’s a basic Pokemon, unlike Aerodactyl, which is Stage One, evolving from Old Amber. Like Aerodactyl’s Genetic Apex card, Fan Rotom only requires colorless energies to attack, so it’s an easy option to pop in your deck ready for when you inevitably encounter one of these pesky decks.
