Summary
Following the release ofPokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’sTriumphant Light, a new meta has started to grip the game. As expected,Arceus ex currently occupies the top spot, alongside Dialga ex, with the latter dominating the top ten with Palkia ex.
With every meta, though, comes an anti-meta, as players look for ways to counter the best cards the game has to offer. These counters often come from the most unlikely sources, withBidoof recently proving a great foil for DruddigonandHitmonlee the same for Gyarados.

Things are no different this time around, with one of Triumphant Light’s best anti-meta cards coming from a typically average Pokemon —Sudowoodo.
Sudowoodo Is The Latest Anti-Meta Card In Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket
If Arceus ex is the new meta, Sudowoodo is definitely one of the best quick counters for it.
One of Arceus ex’s biggest strengths is the fact that it’s a basic Pokemon that can be thrown into the action immediately. While the Pokemon does require three energies to attack, there’s no need to rely on RNG, hoping you draw an evolution card you need to play.

This is where Sudowoodo comes in. The card itself is pretty average; it hits standard Pokemon for 20 damage from one energy. When it’s against ex cards, though, particularly Arceus ex, things start to look up.
Sudowoodo’s Fighting Headbutt attack deals 20 damage plus an extra 30 if the Pokemon is an ex, which is exactly what Arceus is. It doesn’t stop there, though. Arceus ex is weak to Fighting-type moves, which means Sudowoodo can hit it for an extra 20 damage, totaling 70 damage on its first turn.
Given Arceus ex has a base HP of 140, Sudowoodo can KO it in just two turns, provided it doesn’t heal or use a Giant Cape. This means it can defeat Arceus ex before the Pokemon can even set up.
