Steam Sales Have Helped Games Before

Late last year, the embattled Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League had a player count of 2,561, something it hadn’t experienced since a month after launch. That resurgence wasdue to a massive sale that cut the game by 95 percent. Prior to that, the title had been hovering in the hundreds.

Before that, The Crew 2 also experienced a huge jump in popularity.Ubisoft’s title jumped to a record 22,675 players on Steam, up from 12,707, after it was announced that an offline mode would be coming to the game, coupled with a sale that saw the game drop to as low as $1. In other words, Steam sales aren’t just good for your wallet. They can also be good for helping a game surge in popularity.
