Making his not so glorious return, Istvan Toth is back inKingdom Come Deliverance 2. In the first half of the game, he plays a big role in the story - tormenting Henry from afar and playing an active role in the threat our hero is trying to end.
It all culminates in a confrontation in Nebakov Fortress. After escaping captivity, you climb to the top of the tower to find him and get your sword back. Then, you have to make a choice. Do you face off against him in a duel, or kill him dishonourably? The decision is yours but you only have a limited time to make it.

Should You Duel Or Kill Istvan Toth?
Which option you choose depends on how you’re playing as Henry. Are you being as honorable as possible, letting people live when they surrender and never stealing NPCs' belongings?
If you are, you should accept the duel with Istvan. You’ll need to fight him like you would in any combat encounter. However, since it’s late at night and in his room, Istvan isn’t protected by amor. The fight should be pretty easy.

However, you can refuse the duel if you like. All that happens then isyou stab Istvan immediately and he tumbles out of the windowto his death.
Since Henry is a Christian, being honorable is a big part of his beliefs.
Can You Keep Istvan Toth Alive?
No matter what choice you pick,Istvan Toth will die.You cannot save himso that he plays a role in the rest of the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. His death is a vital part of the story and changes how Henry acts for the rest of the adventure.
Since he isn’t the big bad guy in the sequel, you soon learn that there are other people to hate instead. While getting rid of Istvan is important, as it allows you to get your sword back, he was only a pawn in the struggles in Bohemia.
