As you start playingAssassin’s Creed: Shadows, you’ll first have to go through a long prologue that makes the game look like a linear experience. However, once you finish said prologue, you can open your map to see just how big the world is and how much there is for you to explore.
Not only do you have to reach a certain location to uncover the map, but you also have to find the goal of your quest with little help. However, if you want to have an easier time finding quest locations, you may use the Guided Exploration mode.

What Does The Guided Exploration Mode Do?
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has a unique way of making the world more immersive by not giving you specific quest markers for your destinations on the map. Instead, they provide you with two to three clues for the general locationwith the following information:
While this is a great thing to have if you enjoy exploring the unknown world, it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. If you’re someonewho’d like to have a direct marker as your destination, you’re able to use the Guided Exploration Mode. This essentially removes the exploration element from all quests as it marks the general area for you.
Once you reach this area, you canuse the observe mode by pressing LT/L2/right-click to locate the blue dotshowing you the exact location. You can turn on Guided Exploration Mode by heading over to gameplay settings and finding the mode here.
Should You Use Guided Exploration Mode?
As mentioned above, the prologue of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows gives you quite a linear experience, which is what you’ll get if you turn on Guided Exploration mode during the main game as well. With quest markers highlighted, you can easily go from one place to another.
However, this takes away a big chunk of the immersion from the game since with this mode, you’ll mostly just bereaching a location and either triggering a cutscene or assassinating the target, which might make it feel repetitive.
If you want to have an easier time with exploration without Guided Exploration mode, you can also send out your scouts.
Guessing the right place with these will highlight your destinationwithout making it too easy since you have limited scouts.
