Summary

Thanks to oneMonster Hunter Wildsplayer, we have a pretty good idea of what weapons people use in the endgame, and I’m sorry to say,but you’re all boring.

The most popular weapon type by a wide margin is the Long Sword, the most basic weapon to ever weapon. Trailing behind in second place are the Dual Blades. Granted, they make you feel like Kratos at his peak in the earlyGod of Wars, slaying Greek gods instead of overgrown chickens, but they’re still just two Long Swords.

u/GoodboyLucas gathered the data via endgame-tempered monsters.

It reminds me of the averageBaldur’s Gate 3player Larian Studios shared way back. With tieflings and orcs and all of those richD&Dcustomisation options at the community’s disposal, the vast majority made a… generic white guy with short hair. That’s your favourite weapon type in human form.

If the pie chart is a little confusing, here’s a quick breakdown of each weapon type from most to least popular — spoilers, swords dominate.

If you’re not using the Hunting Horn, you’re missing out. The first one you get is a giant saxophone that you dance enemies to death with, which turns hunts from valiant battles into quirky freestyle matches. The Switch Axe also deserves a lot more love. Even if it is kind of a sword, it’s basically aBloodbornetrick weapon.

But the Long Sword has always been an enduring staple of Monster Hunter, fantasy, and action games, so it’s hardly a surprise it rules (and slays) the roost. But go on, branch out more. Kill enemies with a greatsword strapped to the end of a giant canon. It’s more fun, I promise.
