Summary
God of Warco-creator David Jaffe has been a bigStarfieldsupporter ever since the game launched in 2023. Back then, he proudly stated that it was in his “top three games of all time”. And two years later, little has changed.
Jaffe recently saidthat Starfield has “one of the best singleplayer narratives in gaming” (thanks,Pure Xbox). That’s a bold claim, especially given all the criticism directed at Bethesda’s tentpole RPG. Many fans were frustrated with its"fetch quest snooze fest"pacing, arguing that the “repetitive-ness of locations”, “extremely dry” dialogue, and lack of “edge” made the whole thing “boring”.

Nothing to hate on. I adore this game; one of the best single player narratives in gaming ever. Perhaps THE Best IMO.
These issues were only exacerbated in theShattered Spaceexpansion, which sits at a “Mostly Negative” review score on Steam. Nonetheless, Jaffe remains steadfast in his claim that there’s “nothing to hate on”.
David Jaffe Isn’t The Only Developer Singing Starfield’s Praises
Starfield lead writer and design lead Emil Pagliarulo likewise put Starfield on a lofty pedestal last year, arguing that it’s the “best game [Bethesda has] ever made”.
“Starfield is the hardest thing Bethesda has ever done,” Pagliarulo said. “We pushed ourselves to make something totally different. To just jam into an Xbox, the biggest, richest space simulation RPG anyone could imagine. That we pulled off Starfield makes it something of a technical marvel […] But for us, most importantly, Starfield has its own unique personality, and now sits right next toFalloutandElder Scrolls.”
Former Bethesda developer Bruce Nesmith also chimed in, arguing that the inevitableStarfield 2 will be “one hell of a game”, taking the ideas of the original to completely new heights. But that’s a long way off, considering we still have The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 to look forward to.
