Steam Just Broke Its Concurrent Player Record

The all-time peak is now 40,270,997, smashing past the 40 million milestone

Of these more than 40 million users, most of them were just going through their libraries or browsing the store for new games. 12,812,379 users were actually in-game, with the top games right now beingCounter-Strike 2,Monster Hunter Wilds,Dota 2, and more.

Monster Hunter Wilds has likely given Steam the boost it needed to go past the 40 million mark, as this is its first weekend since it launched on Friday. Yesterday, 1,384,608 users were playing at once on PC alone, making thisa huge success for Capcom, despite thewidely reported performance issuesthat the devs are looking into.

This comes just after another successful release withKingdom Come: Deliverance 2. This isstill going strong on Steam, with 119,071 people playing right now, putting it in ninth on the Steam charts. That’s not bad for a single player release at all.

Then, there are all the live services that users log in to Steam to play. Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, andPUBGare always in the charts, but the recent success ofMarvel Rivalshas added another live service into the mix, putting that comfortably in the top ten.

At the time of writing, the concurrent player figure has gone back down to 34,669,312, but surpassing 40 million for a moment is a huge milestone. With plenty of other big releases to come, we’ll have to see how much it rises throughout 2025.
