More Developers Are Working On Games For The Original Nintendo Switch Than The Switch 2
The State of the Game Industry report, which also found that almostone-third of game devs are now women or non-binary, reported that 20 percent of developers are currently working on a game of the originalNintendo Switch, 12 percent more than those that are working on the Nintendo Switch 2.
The report found that PC dominance had grown by 14 percent, with 80 percent of developers now saying they’re working on a title for PC. It attributes this to the growth in Valve Steam Deck holders. Alongside this, it found 34 percent of developers are working on an Xbox title and 38 percent a game for the PlayStation 5.

Interestingly, those developing games for web browsers are at their highest level in a decade, with 16 percent of developers claiming that they’re working on projects that will land on the web.
What Does This Mean For The Nintendo Switch 2?
Now, for Nintendo fans, there’s no need to panic. The company is undoubtedly going to have a stellar line-up of first-party games for the console’s launch window, and there have been plenty of other reports that third-party developers are going to go all in on the platform.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is the successor to Nintendo Switch, scheduled for release on July 27, 2025. Confirmed as backwards compatible, it will play both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games.
