Sniper Elite: Resistanceis a game that generally gets a little bit easier every time you get through a level. It’s a game with missions that are meant to be replayed, and clearing each mission again and again helps you to understand what to anticipate, and how to better navigate it.
If you’re looking to thrust some of the difficulty back into levels once you’ve gotten through them a couple times, playing the game on Authentic difficulty is a great way to do it. Authentic difficulty can be a fantastic challenge;going into that challenge with the right loadout makes all the difference.
Authentic Difficulty
Authentic difficultyin Sniper Elite: Resistance essentially gets rid of most of the game-like mechanics of it; nearly all of them, apart from the fact that you’re playing from a third-person perspective.Health regeneration is offoutside using healing items, you haveno radarand no “spotted” indicators, no ammo indicator on the bottom of your screen; nothing.
This means you’ll need topay close attentiontoevery aspect ofyour loadout, your character, and your environment. While bringing the right gear into the fight is crucial, it’s no substitute for smart play. A combination of the two is going to be the best path to success.
Best Authentic Loadout
Weaponsin Authentic difficulty need to be able topack a punch. You need to be able to take a target down very quickly, because if you’re in a situation where multiple targets are in front of you, they’re going to drop you extremely quickly.
In an ideal scenario, you aren’t going to be in a position to get ambushed by multiple enemies at the same time. This is going to requireplanning,traps, andchoosing the right targetswithyour equipment.

TheLee NO.4is one of thebest weapons in the game, so it tracks that it would be included in a loadout meant to be used in the most difficult mode the game offers.
Best Attachments For The Lee NO.4
The Lee NO.4 has some of thebest range potentialof any weapon in the game, solid damage, and agreat rate of fire. With the right attachments, you’re able to accentuate all of these strengthsuntil few weapons can possibly compare.

All of these attachmentsincrease the rate of fireon the Lee NO.4,increase the aiming stability, orreduce the audible distance. This is all going to make it a weapon that’s easier to use, and a weapon that you can use in more situations without giving yourself away.
On thoselonger-range shotswhere you don’t necessarilyneed to worry about audible range, it’s particularly useful touse the Soft Point ammo. That extra damage helps ensure your shot is lethal, which is important because follow-up shots on an enemy that’s heading for cover at range can be particularly difficult in Authentic.
Best Secondary Weapon
TheTrench Gunis possibly the most unique weapon in the game, with it being theonly shotgun. Because of that, it’s the only weapon able to fill in such a unique niche.
That niche is a secondary weapon that candispatchalmostany enemythat it hitsin one shot. The Trench Gun is capable of this in a wide variety of ranges, even without a plethora of attachments on it.
Best Attachments For The Trench Gun
Themost important thing to bring along with the Trench Gun is avariety of different ammo types, which will be listed below. That said, certain attachments can add some extra value.

These attachments give the Trench Gun slightlybetter spread accuracy, abetter firing rate, and animproved sight.
That improved sight might seem like a moot point on a shotgun, but the Rifled Soft Slug rounds have an effective range of 200 meters. Meanwhile, the .36 Shot ammo type has an effective range slightly better than the defaultas well, giving you ammo types for long-range,medium-range, and close-range, all with a shotgun.
It is absolutely imperative to have asecondary weaponthat candrop close-range enemies with easein Authentic difficulty, since sometimes you’re unaware that you’re being pressed until you’re under fire. The Trench Gun allows you to make a triviality ofthese enemies, making it undoubtedly the best weapon for the situation.
Best Pistol
Thebest pistolfor an Authentic loadout is moreup for debate. For the most part, a pistol in this situation has the role of being asilent,close-range option. It has to be able to put enemies down in one well-placed shot, without nearby enemies being the wiser for it.
Both theWelrodand theModèle 1935Aare capable of this, and both have pros and cons. The Welrod does more damage, making it the more assured one-shot, while theModèle 1935Ais a little bitmore forgivingin its fire rate, though it’s a bit louder with less damage.
The Best Modèle 1935A Attachments
TheModèle 1935Ahas been included here because it’s going to be alower-risk optionthan the Welrod. The Welrod has a higher ceiling, but the Modèle 1935A is going to cause fewer problems.
Reinforced Overpressure
With this combination of attachments, the Modèle 1935A is going to beextremely quiet(especially with Subsonic Rounds), going to dealincreased damage, and have bothbetter aiming stabilityand a muchbetter sight.
Ideally, this is going to ensure you plant your shotdirectly underneathan enemy’s helmet, consistently dropping them without anyone hearing it. If you’re in a situation where enemies aren’t quite as close, and you may rely entirely on the suppressor for the stealth aspect, switching to the Soft Point rounds can help ensure a one-shot kill.
Best Items
Authentic Mode requires bringing quite a fewdifferent itemsfordifferent purposes. You need to be ready to adapt to an enemy force that’s much more difficulty to deal with, and that means you need a lot of tools at your disposal to even the odds.
Med Kit
Health does not automatically regeneratein Authentic difficulty, inflating the value of healing items dramatically. AMed Kitwillbring you to full healthfrom wherever you were, and that is going to quite literallysave your life.
Bandages
Bandagesare not as dramatic as a Med Kit in their healing effect, but they also don’t take nearly as long to apply. You can also carry many more of these at a time, helping you get back to full health fromless critical injuries.
Grenade
Grenadesare verymulti-faceted, great for taking care of groups of enemies, enemies in cover, or quietly taking down a couple of enemies at a time.
Teller Mine
Minesare going tosave your lifein many situations where you didn’t know you were in danger in Authentic difficulty. Setting up in a location to snipe can yield great results, but you’re not always going to be aware that enemies know where you are.
PlacingTeller Mineson the flanking routesthat lead to you will give you a lethal alarm system informing you that you have Nazis on their way. Place them before you take shots, and they’ll be like having backup.
Schu-Mines
Schu-Mineswill do in a pinch as a replacement for Teller Mines, or they’re a great way to quietly disrupt an enemy’s movement pattern without risking a shot.
They also have aLure Mine variant, which candraw enemies into a positionthat’s more advantageous for you.
TNTismuch less subtlethan Schu-Mines and even less subtle than grenades, but when there’s something big thatneeds blown up, TNT is going to get the job done. Placed well, TNT willdestroy or severely incapacitate most vehiclesin the game.
