If 100 Heroes seems daunting to you, that’s because it is, but there are, fortunately, many characters in the game that are extremely beginner-friendly, allowing you to pick them up and play as you learn the ropes. They will do an excellent job at teaching you the basics of combat while also giving you enough variety for builds that can open the door for experimentation as you get better!
The Best Beginner Heroes Overview
When it comes to choosing thebest beginner-friendly Heroes available in Warriors: Abyss,several factors come into play, assome characters are extremely varied and have complex moves and combosthat could be a bit tougher to grasp in the heat of the moment if you’re new to the genre.
Some Heroes have unique actionsthat allow them todeal more damage by rotating the analog stickafter performing a Charge Attack. It’s avery cool mechanic overall, but it is not recommended that someone completely new to the series or genre try it,especially in this game where you are put into an arena with hundreds of enemies flooding in at you from all directions.

All Heroes will be more than capable of standing their own in the later portions of the game; some will just need to stick to a strict build, which can be a bit more challenging if the RNG isn’t going your way. Regardless, if you like the Hero and how they play, you can likely get them across the finish line, no matter how early or late you’ve obtained them!
Best Beginner-Friendly Starter Heroes
Starter Heroesare tremendously strong in Warriors: Abyss, as they allow you todip your toes into the water and see what’s up.Not only will they allow you toaccumulate Karma Embers and unlock more Heroes,but they will alsoteach you everything you need to knowabout the game’s many systems and mechanics.
Furthermore, just because they are Starter Heroesdoesn’t mean they’re terrible or anything,asmost of them can absolutely be late-game powerhouses,allowing you to start and finish your journey through hell with them. So, if you really enjoy playing some of these characters, don’t be afraid to stick with them!
Kunoichi
Kunoichiis easily one of the best Heroes in Warriors: Abyss, especially for beginners, as she has thepotential to unleash substantial damageandonly really needs to rely on Speedto get the job done. Anything else is an added bonus that will make her shine even brighter.
Pairing her withAllied Heroesthat also have Speed Emblems will go a long way, allowing her tobranch off into Skill Emblemsand more elemental Emblems such asFlame or Slayfor substantially more damage. Themore Speed she has, the more her Attack increases,which is tremendously potent, especially in the first zone!
Cao Cao
Cao Caois a bit different, as herequires Allied Heroeswho also have the’Wei Emblem’to get the most out of his abilities, which will becharacters such as Xiahou Dun and Yue Jin,as well as many more Heroes in the game. Having these Heroes on his team will grant him anadditional five percent Attack per Allied Herowith that Emblem, which is excellent.
What makes him a bit more complex is that hethrives on Wisdom, Charm, and Ice Emblemsthe most, but theyaren’t necessarily requiredif you canget enough Heroes in your Formation with Wei Emblems.Regardless, he’s an excellent pick that candeal lots of damage with devastating and simple combos!
Xiahou Dun
Speaking ofXiahou Dun,he’s our next pick, as he isyet another fantastic beginner-friendly Heroin Warriors: Abyss. Heshares essentially the same Hero Trait as Cao Cao,so youmust have multiple Heroes with the Wei Emblem in your Formationif you want to get the most out of him.
Aside from that,Vigor and Slay Emblems will be Xiahou’s primary focus,which is anexcellent pairing that can deal substantial damageif you can get started on them early on. That combination, paired with additional Attack from Allied Heroes, will make him a force to be reckoned with!
Kenshin Uesugi
Next in line isKenshin Uesugi,a Starter Hero whothrives on the Summoning Skills of his Allied Heroes,granting them an additional 20 percent Attackwhileincreasing his Vigor Emblems by a whopping 50 percent,making him tremendously strong if you may stick to the build.
Vigoris obviouslyone of his best Emblemsthat you must focus on, but so are theSkill and Bolt Emblems.Leveling yourSkillwill enable you toperform more Attack Strings as well as use all six Allied Heroes in your Formation,which goes hand in hand with his gameplan. If you want to be a bit more involved, then Kenshin is your man!
Guan Yu
Our last pick for the Starter Heroes isGuan Yu,an unbelievablepowerhouse with lots of Defense,making him hard to take down with a proper build. Aside from that, he will alsogain five percent Attack for every Allied Hero in his Formation with the Brave General Emblem,which will make him downright terrifying.
Vigor, Strength, and Flame Emblemswill bring out the best characteristics of Guan Yu’s combat prowess, whichwill only be enhanced with his War God Hero Trait.He may not be as fast or overtly aggressive as some of the other picks, but he’svery fun to play and can be near unstoppableif the RNG plays nice!
Best Beginner-Friendly Unlockable Heroes
After settling in with some of the Starter Heroes andbegin unlocking more Heroes with Karma Embers,you will want tokeep an eye out for their synergiesand alsoscoop up Heroes that have the same unique Emblemsas they doand ones that help other Allied Heroes out.While that will take some time to do, it will be well worth it.
Nonetheless, here aresome of the best beginner-friendly Heroes Embers can buyin Warriors: Abyss if you’re looking forslightly more involved yet perfectly understandable Attack Strings with decent build variety and ease of use.Again,most of these will be late-game-worthy Heroes,so don’t think they will suddenly stop being good!
Nene
Neneissimilar gameplay-wise to Kunoichi,as shethrives on building her Speed Emblems up as soon as possible,but can alsopassively begin building Defenseif sherecruits Allied Heroeswith theToyotomi Emblemto her Formation, which can go a long way if you’re actively only focusing on more offensive-focused Emblems.
She is also avery affordableHero, coming in at only300 Karma Embers,making her perfect for beginners.Speed and Bolt should be her primary focus,but shewill be fine with just about any other Element-based Emblem,so long as she has Speed locked down!

Nois our next choice, as she is afascinating Hero who offers unique and snappy gameplaythat canfeel a bit more involvedthan some of the others mentioned. HerHero Traitallows her tocharge her Musou Gauge by ten percent for every recruited Hero with an Oda Emblem,which will be helpful in later areas.
Not only that, buther primary Emblems are Charm and Slay,whichopens the door for many combinations,allowing her toscoop Speed and Skill Emblemsinto the mix. While it may take some time to get going,once her ideal build is off the ground, she is easily one of the strongestoptions. The only downside is she costs a decent1000 Karma Emblemsto obtain!
Yue Jin
If you want a Hero who ishyper-aggressive,thenYue Yinis your guy, as hegains ten percent more Attack Speed for 15 seconds after every 1000th consecutive hit,rewarding him for hacking and slashing his way through the endless hordes of monsters.
And, with theSkill and Speed Emblemsbeing hisprimary focus,you canmix them with any Elemental-based Emblemforsubstantially more damage,making him an absolute blast to play. He also only costs500 Karma Embersto obtain, which makes his one of the best early offerings in the game!
Renmaru Mori
Renmaru Morifollows, offering arelatively basic playstyle that is somehow very satisfyingto play, especially if you can getNobunaga Odain yourFormation(which won’t be until much later in your journey). Still, while youmay not be able to use her Hero Trait right away,she isstill a devastating forcethat is a blast to play.
Heronly primary Emblem is Ice,essentiallygiving you free reign of what to pair it with.We strongly recommend Skill and Speed,as they offer the most utility, butfeel free to match it to your preferred playstyleand go wild;she adapts well to anything you toss at her.And the good news is that she’s only100 Karma Embers,which is a steal as far as we’re concerned!
Zhou Tai
Zhou Taiis our final recommendation for a beginner-friendly Hero as hemakes the best use of the Slay Emblem’s ability to generate more frequent one-hit kills,which willtemporarily increase his Speedbyten percent for ten seconds,allowing him to behyper-aggressivewithout having to focus on building out his Speed Emblems.
Instead, he canfocus his efforts on the Skill and Slay Emblemswhilemixing in one moreMain Emblem,such as Vigor,to becomeextremely well-rounded.You will belanding constant one-hitsthe more you level your Slay Emblems, which willmake clearing hoards much easier,making him well worth the500 Karma Embersasking price!
