Picking a weapon inDynasty Warriors: Originsusually means weighing the pros and cons. Gauntlets make it easy to target officers, but struggle against large groups. Wheels require precise inputs, but rack up massive combos when used correctly.

Crescent Blades, the final weapon type that you unlock, are a class of their own. They have the range of spears, the impact force of podao, and Battle Arts that are unlike anything else. Throw in their easy-to-use power-up mechanic, and it’s easy to see why the game holds them back until every other weapon has had a chance to shine.

Crescent Blade Combat Tips

Crescent Blades are actually very straightforward; come out swinging at the beginning of a fight to build up charge, then let loose byholding the Heavy Attack buttononce your blade is wreathed in flames. The regular hold attack isbest for dealing with groups, thanks to its sweeping strikes and shockwaves, while theBlock and Dodge comboswork well against officers since they land more strikes overall.

Crescent Blade Battle Arts have lots of sweeps and shockwaves beyond what you can do with your charged attacks, so bymanaging your Braveryand alternating between the two (and of course throwing in the occasional Musou Attack), you can easily handle most situations. If it’s good enough for the likes of Guan Yu, it’s good enough for you!

Best Crescent Blade Build

Crescent Blades are good enough that nearly any build will work with them; the key isnot to go too heavy on high-cost Battle Arts.Just because you’re able to build up Bravery with ease doesn’t mean you should only have expensive Arts, after all!

Crescent Blades have a long reach that’s often heightened by their special attacks; you can get even more coverage of the battlefield byequipping a high-level Oblivion Gem.This is generally the best way to start off a Crescent Blade build, though if your weapon has traits that make parrying easier theScorch Gemcan be a viable choice as well.

Bursting Wave Slashis a starting move for Crescent Blades that fires a large, powerful shockwave. It’s excellent for clearing large groups and hitting clustered officers, and at four Bravery it’s at the upper limit of what you want in terms of cost.

Star Sunder SlashandRelentless Wave Slashboth become available as you level up your Proficiency with Crescent Blades, and make fantastic replacements for the starting Arts. Star Sunder Slash provides a combo ofwide attackswith a bit of forward movement, and it strikes additional times if you’ve charged up your weapon.

Relentless Wave Slash, meanwhile, is amore focused combo with more forward movement, great for targeting officers. You can hold the button to increase the combo length (be sure to lock onto your target first), and it’s a Special Art, allowing it to interrupt key enemy attacks.

As is always good practice, round out your set with Palm Strikeso that you always have a Special Art ready to deploy at a moment’s notice.
