Colorless-type Pokemon are some of the best inPokemon TCG Pocket. This is because they can be easily splashed into any kind of deck you want to build without forcing you to adopt an entirely different Energy type. This also helps when you want to avoid all your Pokemon having the exact same weakness.
The Space-Time Smackdown set includes many Pokemon from the Sinnoh Region, including some Evolutions that upgrade some of the cards that already existed. From disruptive strategies that mess with your opponent’s Energy Zone to others that can deal with Space-Time Smackdown’s Tool cards, these are the best Colorless-type Pokemon in the set.
10Glameow
A Searchable Investment
If any Pokemon feels underrated, it’s Glameow. Luckily, Pokemon Pocket knows how to make even underloved creatures interesting to use. While damage is reliant on a coin flip, it can Evolve into the more powerful Purugly with ease.
This card is searchable through Poke Ball and Team Galactic Grunt, so getting it in play is easier than most other Colorless-type Pokemon. Glameow is a great investment for one of the nastiest Moves in the entire game. You just need to wait it out and Glameow will come through.
9Ambipom
The Ape Slaps Twice
Ambipom can deal up to 80 damage with only one Energy. While notthe most powerful coin flipper in Pokemon TCG Pocket, the cheapness of its Move makes it worth it. It also has a Retreat Cost of one making it nimble when it needs to get out of the way.
Ambipom is easy to squeeze into any deck not just because of its Energy requirement but also because it is a Stage One Pokemon. So including it doesn’t take up much deck space either making it a neat budget option.
8Regigigas
A Risky Way To Score Points
Regigigas is a bit risky to play since its potential can only be unlocked by taking damage. Raging Hammer is pretty expensive to get online with a four Energy requirement. You do 50 base damage but this scales depending on how much damage Regigigas has sustained.
Potentially, you can hit for a maximum of 180 damage with one swing. This will knock out almost anything in the game. However, it does so by hanging on to that last bit of HP to keep itself alive. Luckily, it is a single-point Pokemon so having it knockout isn’t as big of a loss.
7Starly
Fighting Back Against Tools
Pokemon Tools are introduced to Pokemon TCG Pocket in the Space-Time Smackdown set. So, naturally, there also needs to be a way to counter them. Starly may be a Basic Pokemon with two other Stages ahead of it, but this little bird can pluck the tools right off the field.
For one Energy, Starly can use Pluck, which does 20 damage and discards any Pokemon Tool that your opponent’s Active Pokemon has. Basic Pokemon with Move effects are a welcome sight, especially when the effect is useful.
6Staraptor
Hunting Down Your Opponent’s Pokemon
The Starly line begins with a good effect and ends with a great one. Staraptor can do 80 damage for three Energy while also locking your opponent’s Active Pokemon in place. This means no more Retreating even if their Active Pokemon is about to get knocked out.
Fora Stage Two Pokemon, Staraptor also has a cheap Retreat Cost of one. Its effects throughout this Pokemon’s Evolution line allow it to set up weaker Pokemon for a quick takedown. After all, this is a hunting bird.
5Bidoof
A Basic Stronger Than Its Evolution
It’s strange whena Basic Pokemon is stronger than its Evolution. It’s even stranger when that Basic Pokemon is Bidoof. This tiny little Pokemon halves the HP of its enemies with Super Fang. This can be an incredible amount of damage to do, even if it can’t knock out Pokemon directly.
This Pokemon takes a bit of math to truly master. Especially since it does not need any additional Energy to attack once it Evolves. Weaken your opponent’s Pokemon enough, and you can Evolve Bidoof into Bibarel and attack to score a point.
4Porygon-Z
Hacking The Energy Zone
Porygon-Z is based on a corrupted version of Porygon2. It’s Move reflects this by being able to corrupt your opponent’s Energy Zone. Buggy Beam does 80 damage for three Energy with the added effect of changing the Energy type that they would normally get.
So, if your opponent is reliant on Electric Energy to perform their Moves, they might get stuck with Steel Energy which is essentially useless unless their Pokemon has at least one Colorless requirement. This is also Porygon-Z’s own little unique ability found nowhere else in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
3Purugly
A Better Version Of Persian
If you’re going to adopt a cat for your deck, choose Purugly. It has more HP than Persian, a stronger Move, and an even better hand rip. This is one of the most disruptive and tactical Moves in the game since it not only lets you see your opponent’s hand, but you get a choice on what to send back to the deck.
This Move gives you everything from hand knowledge to being able to stop your opponent from Evolving their Pokemon or using a Supporter that might otherwise ruin your entire game plan.
2Fan Rotom
An Upgrade To Aerodactyl
If Genetic Apex’s Aerodactyl seemed interesting to play, but you lacked the space for the Old Amber, Fan Rotom offers an alternative. Rather than spinning Pokemon back to the deck, Fan Rotom instead spins them to the hand.
This can be very disruptive if your opponent is trying to Evolve their Pokemon in the Active Spot. If Spin Storm lands on heads while your opponent only has one Pokemon out, then you win by default, since they have nothing else to put in play.
1Lickilicky Ex
A Surprisingly Good Colorless Ex
If you love what the Lickitung from Genetic Apex was capable of then you will love Lickilicky ex. Take your coin-flipping strategies one step further with Licking Fury. With an incredible base damage of 100, you only need two successful coin flips to do away with most of the strongest Pokemon in the game.
Lickilicky ex can also take advantage of any form of Energy acceleration that doesn’t specify a type of Pokemon in the wording. So Dialga ex’s two Energy attachments per turn is compatible, allowing Lickilicky ex to become a top contender in the Pokemon TCG Pocket meta.
