Faerûn and beyond in theDungeons & Dragonsuniverse is filled with powerful beings of any alignment that represent all aspects of life, and even death, allowing for clerics to embody their roles. Most clerics often follow gods of good alignment, using their power to heal and protect those who can’t.

However, there are more than a handful of good-aligned deities that vary greatly in terms of what they represent and who their followers are. This is also a good thing, as no two clerics must be alike, following gods of great power, light, darkness, nature, healing, and beyond.

10Mystra

The Mother Of All Magic

In Faerûn, the Weave is what binds magic together into specific forms that allow it to be cast into spells. Mystra is the god who maintains and protects the Weave and is thus revered as the goddess of magic, giving power and protection to great wizards and other forms of spellcasters.

Mystra is an ideal god for clerics who want to focus on the arcane elements of their magic or those who want to focus on study and lore. Clerics of Mystra might care about the minutiae of spellcasting or protecting the natural order of the Weave, preventing chaos from taking reign.

9Sune

Lady Firehair

While there are many gods who can be considered beautiful, none more so than Sune, the goddess of beauty. Focusing on the experience of beauty, such as smell, taste, sight, and feel, she also encourages passionate desire and expression in all of its forms.

Clerics of Sune will also express aesthetic beauty and expression outside what would be considered traditional or even practical, also allowing their magic to take such unique forms. While encompassing such a vague and subjective experience as “beauty,” there really isn’t a wrong way to play a cleric of Sune, as long as you do so passionately.

8Eilistraee

The Dark Maiden

The drow mother of light, freedom, and song, Eilistraee seeks to help the drow, or any suffering in the dark, to return to the light where they can prosper in peace. Eilistraee is like a light in the darkness, guiding lost souls to safety where they can express themselves freely where otherwise suffocated by conflict and strife.

While you don’t have to be a drow to worship Eilistraee, it would make a perfect fit for good aligned drow who made their way to the surface through her guidance. Clerics of Eilistraee might also seek to continue her mission, helping those who are lost or trapped in dark places.

Garl Glittergold provides his followers with a dash of luck and the wit to perform practical jokes, disrupt controlling forms of power, and provide laughter and song.

Garl Glittergold is a perfect god for gnome clerics who lean into their whimsical nature, using their magic to distract and delight while using their chaos for good. Clerics of The Watchful Protector will also use trickery to lie and deceive, often to aid in offering freedom to those without power.

6Lathander

The Morninglord

Lathander is essentially the god of prosperous life and the ideal god for adventurers setting out on a new journey. Lathander also represents the dawn and beginnings, rebirth and new life, which allowed followers to turn a new leaf or escape from their own corruption on the path of redemption.

Clerics seeking redemption, inspiration for creativity, self-perfection, or any pursuit deemed just would look to Lathander. Lathander could also be the most blanket “good” god for those not wanting to make their cleric character overly focused on who they worship and why.

Clerics of Moradin tend to be dwarven smiths and artisans, using their skill to gain the favor of the All-Father and bring awe to all who witness their creations. You might also use a cleric of Moradin to divine truth and justice, using an objective eye to determine guilt or innocence.

4Selûne

The Moonmaiden

The twin goddess of the moon, Selûne acts as a guide to those otherwise without, helping sailors navigate, guiding wanderers to safe harbor, or giving lycanthropes a source of hope and comfort. Selûne and her followers are also in constant conflict withShar and her followers, who represent loss and the dark.

Clerics of Selûne will also act as guides for the lost, using their power to protect those who can’t protect themselves, leading them to safety. An interesting cleric character might be a lycanthrope using Selûne as a source of protection against themselves, hoping to tame their animalistic rage.

Clerics of Tyr might also adopt his pride, knowing themselves to be just, despite the workings of evil beings and deceptive creatures. As a cleric of the God of Justice, your character would struggle to let wrongs go unpunished and would seek to lead criminals to proper justice.

Tyr also has two godly followers known as Ilmater and Torm, who would also serve as gods of justice for clerics looking for a more niche god to follow.
