Dynasty Warriors: Originsgives you a lot of weapons to choose from, but what if the best weapon was no weapon at all? That’s what the gauntlets off you. The metal wrist straps that extend up over your knuckles in sharp knives let you punch and kick your way to victory.
You’d think then that the option of gauntlets would be the most restrictive, locking you into close quarters melee combat. While that personal touch is part of the draw here, they also offer a highly unique range of mystical attacks once you learn all of their secrets. And, I suppose, that’s why you’re here.

Gauntlet Combat Tips
The best advice is tounderstand what stance you are in. TheTiger stance is fast, while theDragon stance is powerful. Meanwhile,Serpent stance launches enemies upwards, and thePhoenix stance aims for battlefield coverage.
You will want to switch between them as required, using Serpent or Phoenix when surrounded, Tiger when taking bases, and Dragon in single combat. Knowing when and how to switch is how you get the best out of each stance. As a result, your Gems and Battle Arts rely on your preferences.
Recommended Gems
To get it out of the way, gauntlet fighters should avoid theOblivion Gem. It boosts your reach, but because this is percentage base, it gets far less use than a reach weapon like a spear. While it can boost some abilities, it doesn’t have enough value to you.
However, if you enjoy the aerial combat of the Serpent stance, then theVortex Gemcan boost your damage. Players who hunt large crowds out in battle meanwhile can get a health boost from theWellspring Gem.
Formost gauntlet fighters though, it’s a choice between theScorch Gem or Ascendance Gem. Those who excel in parries will be rewarded by Scorch, while those who struggle can seek aid through the boosts of the Ascendance.
Recommended Battle Arts
For most weapons, the cheap reliability of having the Special Battle Art (marked by [Sp.] and needed to interrupt orange attacks from captains) bePalm Strikeis sensible. But gauntlets are maybe the best suited to this as it relies on being close enough for hand to hand combat. Though attacks likeArdent Energy Strikeare more powerful, having your Special be just one cost means it is almost always there when you need it.
This frees you up for more expensive Battle Arts, like theWrath of Earthattack which costs six Bravery. However, this devastating earthquake is only available if you max out your proficiency, so you’ll need other options in the meantime.
A cheaper version of Wrath of Earth would beStone Strike Blast, which uses four Bravery - a good alternative until it can be unlocked.Maw of the Tigeris an excellent counterattack Battle Art costing three Bravery (far better for gauntlets than Aerial Retribution), whileHurricane Kick(three Bravery) or the cheaperFlying Kick(one bravery) is a great melee option. When you want to put some distance between you and the crowd,Dispersion Arrowis a rare ranged Battle Art available to gauntlet fighters.
